“Hey, Spencer.” Aiden said getting my attention. “I know this might seem a little forward of me, but I have this friend I think you should meet.”

“Oh that is sweet Aiden, but I really do only date girls.” I replied. It was a canned response I was so used to giving to the other guys that Kaylen dated. They always tried to hook me up with their friends thinking that my interest in girls was a passing phase.

“I know!” He replied laughing. “The way you handled Jess on that pool table Friday can only come from experience!” Kaylen busted out laughing and gave him a high five. It felt like my face was on fire, but I played it up. I leaned back and gave them a cocky smile and said, hey the ladies can’t resist me. Kaylen threw a napkin at me and told me I was full of it.

“Seriously Spencer.” He continued. “She is my best friend in the whole world. I am not trying to set up a date. I just really think that you might get along well with her. She just moved up here and I think she could use a friend besides me.”

“Sure Aiden, sounds great. So what is her name?”

Just then his phone rang. He looked at caller ID and smiled.

“Hey! I was just talking about you” he said into the phone. “I am at The Bean getting coffee are you close? Excellent…you should come see me then. Please!! Ok I will see you in a flash.”

“Crazy good timing” he said to us. “She will be here in a bit and I can introduce you. Do you have time?”

Kaylen and I both nodded.

I decided to go get a coffee refill and let Aiden and Kaylen chat it up solo for a few minutes. I stood in line to get my Americano and then went to doctor it up with cream and sugar. As I turned quickly to head back to my table I abruptly ran full on into someone.

“Shit, I am so sorry” I replied quickly looking down to make sure I hadn’t spilled coffee. Thank God for lids.

“Spencer…?”

My head snapped up.

“Ashley?”

Just then Aiden came over. “You two know each other already? He said confused.

“You know Aiden?” We both replied to each other at the same time.
