“Margaret and Tara are waiting for you in the back Ms. Davies.” the bouncer said.

‘Thanks Charlie, you’re a peach.” Ashley said giving him a kiss on the cheek. I followed Ashley through the back of the club still a little mystified at how many people knew her. She knocked on a door labeled Mr. Airplane Man Only and entered with out waiting for an answer….what kind of backstage passes did she have?

“Hey Ashley!!” I heard two voices say at once. I tried not to be star struck as I saw Tara and Margaret get up and give Ashley hugs.

“Hey Ladies. Hope everything is set up ok for tonight?” Ashley asked.

“Totally. Everything looks awesome. We are really excited to be collaborating with your dad. He has made this trip out to LA really great for us.” Margaret said.

“So you must be Spencer.” Tara said twirling one of her drumsticks around.

“Uh..yeah. Hi how’s it going.” I said trying to remain calm with the whirlwind of events. Ashley didn’t mention she was on a first name, we are doing business basis with them.

“Great to meet you.” Margaret said shaking my hand. “I hear you like our music. It is really great to meet fans all the way out west.”

“Totally love your music!” I said. “I am really looking forward to your show tonight.”

“Oh I think that our show is going to blow you away tonight” Tara said winking at me. I smiled back and Ashley flicked a guitar pick at her and gave her a look that said to shut it. Tara just laughed and went back to tapping out a rhythm on her buckets she had set up.

“Well you two, we are going to get a booth and let you do your thing before you take stage. Thanks a bunch for everything and we will catch up with you again after the show.” Ashley said. I said goodbye and let Ashley lead me out of the dressing room.

“Jesus, Ash I didn’t realize you knew them!” I said as we walked down the hall. “They are going to be working with your label?”

“Yup! Pretty cool huh?” She said smiling.

“Totally!” I said.

We had a reserved booth close to the dance floor right next to the stage. They were perfect seats. The venue wasn’t small, but the atmosphere made it feel like a more intimate setting. Like the band was playing only for you. MAM was rocking and I was having a great time. We had danced a little bit but I was really into just listening to the music. I noticed after a bit that Ashley was acting kind of nervous. I was going to ask her if she was ok, but at that moment she stood and said she was going to get some water up at the bar and if I would like anything. I said water would be great and watched her walk away to the bar. I turned my attention back to the stage as they finished up the song C’mon DJ.

“How’s everyone doing so far? Are we rocking the house?” Margaret asked? She got plenty of whistles and cheers in confirmation.

She nodded. “Sweet. Well for this next song we are going to do something a little different, but we think you are gonna totally love it. We are gonna have someone you might have heard of before come up and sing with us. So everyone please welcome Ashley Davies to the stage…yes THAT Ashley Davies” There were loud cheers and lots of clapping.

How cool was that Ashley was going to sing with them I thought.
