The Bluest Light – (Chapter: The One)

Spencer’s mind had been clouded with thoughts of Ashley for the past five days.  Memories seemed to be the only thing she had and every free second she had to daydream about Ashley she cherished.

Unfortunately, memories lead to feelings and feelings lead to false hope and false hope leads to unbearable pain, which always seemed to be the end result for Spencer when Ashley was involved.

But as much as she knew she should not be thinking about the beautiful brunette, she could not deny that deep down, in her heart, she knew that they were meant to be together.  No one finds their soul mate at 15, but Spencer Carlin did.

So now she was in a pickle.

‘Do I try to spend as much time with her as possible now that she’s back or do I keep my distance and try not to get too attached and end up with my heart crushed again?  Only being her friend is too hard to handle after a while.  Why can’t I just let her go?  Why can’t I get over this after all this time?  Fuck!  Because I know she’s the one.  I always have.  Dammit!’

Spencer chucked the pen she had been holding across the room in frustration.  Her notebook was still in her lap, page blank, as she had simply been sitting there for at least a half hour, completely motionless, all up in her own head.  She needed to be pulled out of her head for her own sanity, stat.

‘I’m an adult now, though.  I should be able to handle being her friend, right?  She is a ton of fun to hang out with.  And I always have a good time.  But I have to be careful not to get my hopes up.  I can do that!  Right?  Maybe not…’

She reluctantly picked up her cell phone and sent Ashley a text confirming that they would go get drinks tomorrow night.

    *****************

When Spencer walked into the bar she quickly scanned the crowd for the brunette.  She found her and, unfortunately, Kevin.

‘Fuck! I should have known that he would be here.  Keep cool, Carlin.’

    1. Spencer is so in love with Ashley and unrequited love is the worst heartbreak ever. I’m curious to know why they aren’t together after declaring their love for one another as teens? I’m in agreement with everyone above that the beautiful blonde needs to let Ashley know how she feels…she might find that the brunette still loves her. Excellent update. PMS
