The King High Killer – (Chapter: Chapter 12 Twelve Hours Until Hell)

“Sounds good. I think I’m going as Einstein if that helps.” Again, Carmen laughed but Ashley plastered a smile to her face. As Clay saw them to the front door, Ashley turned back to Clay.

“One more thing. I was in the gym last week and I think I overheard you and Garrett fighting. What was that about?” Clay shrugged, as though it weren’t a big deal.

“He wasn’t handing in his assignments and flaking on torturing. He was actually paying more for additional torturing time, him and Glen, and every time we’d set up somewhere to meet, it would always be the gym.” Clay said as he rolled his eyes. “Like we could study there.” Ashley nodded as she recalled Clay chastising Garrett for the inappropriate meeting place. The argument fit with Clay’s explanation. “It just bugs me that these guys are so irresponsible but they’re treated like God’s.” Both girls agreed, hating that fact as well.

“And plus,” Clay mumbled as his face grew red. “I really didn’t like how the guy treated Spencer.” Ashley gave the boy a half smile.

“Yeah, he’s a douche.” Carmen stated before waving goodbye to the boy.

“Well that was no help.” The Latina said as they got into Ashley’s car. But the brunette disagreed.

“I’m glad that I have some things explained and we know that Clay and Garrett can’t be suspects; that helps.”

“Yeah, but we’re at a dead-end.” Ashley couldn’t argue with that.

“How about we look into Spencer’s friends? Candace and Madison? It’s not like Spencer will and we know that they were at the hayride and are the world’s biggest bigots.” The brunette said.

“Yeah. And Spencer could have told them about Patrick being gay and they are on the dance committee.” Carmen added, knowing that it made them suspects.

“But it still doesn’t explain how they got access to the station.” Ashley said grudgingly, hating that they had no real evidence on anyone.

“It’s a start.” Carmen said with a shrug. Ashley started the car as her expression grew serious.

“Okay. We’ll go there next. But first…I have to go talk to someone.” Carmen wanted to ask who, but Ashley looked pissed and the Latina was smart enough to know not to ask.
