Halloween that year in Trumble county, was almost called off due to the recent events, but the mayor wanted the town to feel unafraid so he issued an early curfew and that everyone was to travel in groups with multiple guardians. Since, technically, no bodies had been discovered in a little over a week, the small victory and celebration seemed to raise sprits. Slowly, power was coming back to most of the town so a little trick or treating seemed appropriate.
Arthur was at the door handing out candy to a ninja and a cowboy when Ashley and Glen walked towards the house. The man was dressed as a mad scientist and grinned broadly when he saw the pair. “Candy for a trick?” He said with a chuckle as he held the bowl of chocolate out to Ashley and Glen.
“How about no, dad.” The boy responded before grabbing a fist full of candy. “I’m going to go get changed and then I have to pick up Kyla.” He told Ashley before running up the stairs.

220;How about you, Ash, candy?” Ashley shook her head before plopping down onto the couch in the living room. “You better get ready, Ash, Spencer just texted and said she was already at the dance.” He told the brunette as he handed out handfuls of candy to a princess and a dinosaur.
Just great. Ashley thought, hoping she’d get some time to speak to the blonde before the dance. Arthur was all set to close the front door behind him, when someone poked their head through the frame and smiled wide.
“Trick or Treat!” Ashley’s eyebrows shot up at the sight of Clay Brown decked out to look like Einstein, white hair and all. Arthur grinned and chuckled at the sight and opened the door for Clay wider.
“Einstein, what a great costume!” The two men shook hands and introduced themselves as Ashley rolled her eyes.
“Hey, Ash, you ready to go to the dance?” Clay asked, looking Ashley’s non-costume over.
“Uhhh….” The brunette stood from the couch looking sheepish that she didn’t plan ahead; but to be fair, her thoughts were solely on Spencer so she didn’t have time to come up with anything. And before that she was too busy trying to convince herself that her mother was fine; and if she wasn’t, Ashley was trying to convince herself that she didn’t care.

I am literally physically exhausted from reading these last 3 chapters. So much excitement and drama. I knew it was Marie, the Glen and Kyla part threw me for a whirl but I knew Marie was behind it. This story was amazing and kept you guessing from beginning to end. The love and devotion that Spencer and Ashley had for each other was amazing. Marie was the perfect villan. The only part that made me think that it wasn’t her for a minute was when she was showing ginuwine concern for Ashley. This was an intense read from beginning to end and it sucks that so many people were killed because one woman was so sick in the head that she plotted the murders of so many teens. Gays, outcasts, and a single mother, and a kitchen worker who was friends with Ashley. You are an amazing writer. I would pay to read your work any day. I adored this story even in all the craziness that occured. This was a job well done.
PS woah I was watching last week’s episode of House and BAM there’s Gabrielle Christian as a special guest. Haven’t seen her in any tv since South and I had been picturing her all afternoon while reading your story and then there she is! So unexpected!
