The New Guy – (Chapter: Chapter Seven)

“What else do you wanna know,” Spencer asked after taking a drink of her soda.

“Hmmm…” I thought to myself while watching her. “What did your family say about all of this,” I was referring to her guy look. She sighed. Uhoh that’s never a good sign. “Spence?”

“My mom didn’t agree with the fact that I was gay to begin with, let alone me acting like a guy and trying to be one. My dad on the other hand, he understood. He knew the reason for me doing this was so I wouldn’t get hurt and so I wouldn’t get them hurt also,” She said with a blank stare.

    I frowned. “What happened?”

“They fought a lot over me. I hated it I just wanted to be accepted, to be loved you know?” I nodded watching her play with her straw. “Mom ended up leaving my dad took my little brother with her too. It hurt dad bad. I know he loved her, I’m pretty sure he still does. I know I do, but I don’t think she’ll ever come back.” She sighed again sadly.

“Hey,” I whispered, covering her hand with mine and rubbing it softly. “I’m sure she will Spence. You can’t stay away from the people you love for too long. Trust me I know.” She looked up at me with a heart melting smile. “Okay tell me something else. Like what do you do for fun? Do you have any hobbies besides baseball? Where did you learn to be so charming,” I added to the end with my famous Davies grin.

She sat back and shook her head grinning back at me. “Davies if I didn’t know any better I’d think you were flirting with me.”

“And if I am,” I countered back.

She chuckled. “Let’s see I like working on cars. I want to be a mechanic one day and open up a shop of my own. As you already know I love playing baseball. Hmmm I can play guitar pretty good, and my dad of course who else?”

I raised an eyebrow in amazement. “Wow Carlin are you sure you’re not a man?” I started giggling at my comment.

She just rolled her eyes. “I guess the only way to know that is to find out for yourself huh?”
