The New Guy – (Chapter: Chapter Seven)

I stopped giggling and gulped. She looked completely serious but the smirk on her face had me thinking otherwise. Mmmm those sexy eyes. “So are you gonna enter the talent show next week,” I asked changing subjects.

She cocked her head up. “For?”

“Well you said you could play guitar good, why not enter in the talent show. The prize is 200 bucks.”

“Uh I don’t know Ashley,” she said uneasily. “I’m not good playing in front of people.”

“Come on Spence,” I whined. “How am I supposed to believe you can play good if I have no evidence?”

She smiled. “I’ll think about it okay.”

I smiled back but it was wiped off my face as I saw Addison walking towards us. She had a smirk on her face that made me want to ask Spencer to kick her ass. I know she wouldn’t though. ‘Guys’ don’t hit guys. I frowned when she slid in next to me putting her arm around me. “Hey guys,” She said in a cheerful tone.

Spencer stared at her. “I’m sorry I didn’t think we invited you to sit with us,” she growled.

Addison smirked at her. “Silly Spencer, Ashley is my girlfriend. That means I don’t need an invitation. Thanks for being so kind.” Spencer looked at me expectedly.

I shrugged and smiled slightly. “She’s not hurting anything Spence.”

Addison leaned over and kissed my cheek. “See Spencey Poo Ashley wants me here; maybe you should be the one to leave.”

Spencer looked at me again in disbelief.

Why couldn’t I stand up for myself? For the feelings I had for Spencer. I knew why, because I was chicken shit. Spencer was a ‘guy’ and I didn’t want to let everyone think I was dating a guy. That would ruin my reputation. Wow way to go Ashley, shallow much? I’ll take Worthless Losers for 100 dollars Alex.

    I looked down.

Spencer forced a somewhat pleasant smile. “Yeah you know what you’re right Addison. This table is full of a bunch of hypocrites anyways,” She said glaring at me. She stood up and left. I watched her get into her truck from the diner window, and as she piled out and speed off out of the parking lot.

I looked down again. God what did I just do?

Spencer was ignoring me. I got home from the diner that night and called her. No answer. I texted her. Nothing. I left voicemails apologizing for what I did. But no matter how many times I called or how many messages I left she wouldn’t answer. I didn’t blame her though, I had acted like a complete coward and it hurt her. I knew it did. She’d just poured her heart out to me and I acted like it wasn’t a big deal. When it was, it was a huge deal.

Spencer loved me I could feel it; I could see it in her eyes. I loved her too. Although I didn’t know if she did now.

I had to fix this. The only question was….how?
