”Us guys?”
I looked up at her then away, “I mean like skateboarders in general because one of you nearly runs me over at least once a day if I forget to look both ways and you never stop, you just keep going so I’m just a little uh surprised is all and-“
Her laugh cut me off and I looked to see her smiling too, a crinkle in her nose, “I understand, the guys are douche bags sometimes so I apologize for what they have done and will do.”
”Um-“ I was staring at her, admiring how beautiful this girl looked when she was smiling, “thanks.”
She held out her hand suddenly, “By the way, I’m Ashley Davies.”
”Oh uh,” I took her hand in mine and felt a long shiver run through me and remain for several seconds, “Spencer.” I glanced over her at her large black shoes, long cargo shorts with a chain hanging between her pockets, baggy black hoodie, and black beanie visor tipped to the side.
”Spencer… no last name, like Madonna?” She didn’t give me a chance to reply as she continued on, “Well, Spencer, I’ll give you a last name. Hmm… Spencer Davies. Yes, you can be Spencer Davies. I always planned to have a girl take my name, I just figured it would be through the process of getting married.”
I was flabbergasted and speechless, “Uh… thanks… I guess.”
She smiled, “So, Mrs. Ashley Davies, do you accept my last name as your own?”
I softly smiled, “Isn’t it a little soon, I mean, we just met? Plus, when did your first name become part of the deal?”
“Option B is that we run away to Canada and get married,” she winked and quirked her eyebrows.
I laughed and decided not to point out that there were a few more options then that, “Let’s start with Plan A and see how it goes.”
She shrugged, ”Works for me. So wifey, wanna give me a ride to the skate park?”
”Uh-wuh-uh sure,” I didn’t know what else to say.
”Thanks, but sadly you’ll have to let go of my hand in order for me to get in the car.”
