The Untouchable Element – (Chapter: 1-Soul On Fire)
The tallest of the three girls was not as thin as I’d anticipated most high school girls to be but she wasn’t chubby either. Her skin was mildly dark and her facial expression screamed friendliness the moment she saw my step-brother. “Hey, you! What are you doing hanging out here in the freshman section?” She politely asked, before turning her attention to me. Clay embraced her fondly and pecked her on the cheek before introducing the beautiful girl to me. “Chelsea, I’d like you meet my young sister, Spencer Carlin. She just started high school today.” He said proudly, hooking his arm through mine and pulled me forward to shake hands with his friends. I felt my heart beating wildly fast for some strange reason but it most likely wasn’t because of meeting someone entirely new. Behind her stood two of her friends, who were just as tall and equally intimidating as she. The darker haired girl looked younger but fierce with her gorgeous green eyes observing me, leaving me to feel insignificant and self-conscious. It was strange how I felt like I was being checked out by another girl and having those feelings of wanting to impress her but I quickly ignored them. “Hello, Chelsea! I heard so much about you, it’s nice to finally meet you.” I say, almost stammering with the last sentence. As I extended my arm to shake her hand, she giggled and wrapped her arms around me as though she were hugging a longtime friend. “Spencer, I heard a lot about you too! It’s a pleasure to meet you. Wow, Clay, so you do talk about me, huh?” She added playfully as she let me go. He looked embarrassed and tried to pay attention to the other girls behind his crush. “Oh, Spencer these are Chelsea’s friends. The one on the left is Carmen Vega and the other is the head of the cheer leading squad, Madison Duarte.” The one named Carmen was the dark haired girl and although her demeanor seemed unfriendly, I was surprised by her eagerness to greet me. “Hey Spencer, Clay tells me you two are pretty close. Heh, maybe this school year just got a little more interesting.” Carmen told me suggestively. I could feel a powerful blush displaying through my cheeks as I shook her hand quickly before turning my hand over to Madison. She was a Latina beauty queen whose attitude immediately leaked through her voice as we greeted. “Spencer Carlin, welcome to King High. Don’t let girls like Carmen get to you because deep down, they’re a real bitch.” She said with a wicked smile planted on her face. Carmen chuckled and continued checking me out with those deadly Emerald green eyes. She seemed to automatically approve of me, but for Madison, she seemed like she could care less.
