This Must Be It … Welcome To the New Year – (Chapter: 4: If You Don’t Want To Talk About It Then It Isn’t Love)

It isn’t fair! Why’d you have to kiss me! Spencer reached out her hand and swiped the yellow peep off of the table, it’s fluffy yellow body bouncing off the rug and tumbling across the floor into the kitchen.

“Damn what did that little yellow chick ever do to you?” Glen asked as he made his way into the kitchen, and stopping at the fridge. Opening the door he pulled out the milk carton and took a big gulp straight from the container.

    Spencer grimaced. “Glen that’s gross”

The doorbell rang and Arthur yelled an “I’ve got it” from the living room.

The blonde heard a muffled girl’s voice coming from the porch and stood up wandering cautiously into the other room.

“Hey Mr. C I was wondering if Spencer was home…”

Arthur smiled at the young brunette; he had always had a soft spot for his daughter’s best friend. “Sure Ashley I think she’s in the dining room I’ll just go get her”

Spencer’s eyes widened and she whispered at her dad, “No Dad, not home not home” She waved her arms in the air from the other side of the room trying to get his attention. Arthur saw Spencer standing there petrified and smiled at his daughter, completely oblivious.

“Hey Spence, you have a visitor” the older man said, turning back to Ashley, “You’re more then welcome to join us for dinner Ashley”

The brunette simply nodded and peered around the door in order to catch Spencer’s eye. Ashley caught the scared look that was playing across her friend’s features. “Thanks for the offer Mr. C but I can’t stay long”

Arthur wandered off to the kitchen, and left with no other choice Spencer forced her self to cross the living room to the front door. She slipped outside and closed the door gently behind her.

Turning around she saw Ashley standing there with an outstretched palm.

Curiosity getting the best of her Spencer asked, “So what’s that?” The blonde folded her arms against her chest expectantly.

Ashley frowned, not expecting the normally pleasant girl to have such a foul disposition. In the awkward silence of the moment the brunette finally noticed what Spencer was wearing, her eyes widening at the nun-like get-up. She tried to suppress her laughter but the lace and frills were simply too much. She gripped her sides and began to giggle incessantly.

    1. I don’t blame Spencer for telling Ashley that they can’t see each other until Ashley sorts out her feelings. It would be too hard. I’m just wondering what there is to sort out. Ashley should go for it. She’s going to lose Spencer’s friendship if she doesn’t.

    2. Ohh Ashley Ashley how you make me laugh!! haha! As funny as the ending was I’m still mad that Ashley could be so clueless towards Spencer’s feelings! PMS please!

    3. I discovered this gem of a story today and red all 4 chapters and was grieved by the fact that you never finished. This is such a very unique and believable story, please finish it… You are an awesome and gifted writer, don’t let that go to waste. Please update.
