    Unfinished Sympathy – (Chapter: Unexpected Outbursts)

    Pulling back she took the girls hand and led her back to her room.

    “OK, show me this work you have to do and let’s see if we can get it done in time to go out.”

     

    As the car drew up on the high street, Spencer reached for her wallet, ready to pay. The other two girls started to protest but she was in a bad mood, and needed a drink soon and to have other people fumbling around with all their coins would take too long.

    “Guys, don’t worry about it, just buy me a drink.”

    Climbing out Spencer made her way straight to the bar and ordered drinks and shots for the three of them. Finding a table, she sat down and waited for her friends to come over and join her.

    “Guys, I think it’s time to play some drinking games. I know there are only three of us but I want to get drunk quickly and I’ve got a pack of cards in my bag so….” Kyla looked up at the other two expectantly and, as Spencer though, with far too much excitement.

    “Ok, ok, fine. But first we need more drinks.” With that Ashley got up and sauntered over to the bar. Spencer suddenly found herself transfixed by the girl’s backside walking across the room, Putting it down to too much alcohol she turned back to Kyla for another complaining session about the school they were stuck with. Suddenly, two drinks were thumped down on the table in front of her with a smiling Ashley looking down at her.

    “Doubles!” Ashley grinned as if in explanation. Before Spencer had time to reply to that Ashley had shot off to the bar again to retrieve drinks for herself and Kyla. Once she came back the game had got well under way, and money was going almost as quick as the drinks they were getting through. Spencer wasn’t sure if she was imagining it or not but she was pretty sure she was flirting with Ashley (which wasn’t completely new because she tended to flirt with a lot of people, never actually expecting anything) but the strange thing was the Ashley appeared to be flirting back. Maybe it was just the alcohol but Spencer was sure there were some stolen glances that held a little more than friendly interest behind them. Kyla stood up,
