Unfinished Sympathy – (Chapter: Unexpected Outbursts)
“We’re out of drinks guys, and money. I’m going to an ATM to get some more, do you want me to get some for you?”
“Uh, yeah, thanks Ky, here’s my card, you know my pin. Thanks hun.” Spencer handed the card to Kyla and suddenly caught herself being happy that her and Ashley could spend some time alone. She shook her had to clear it of those thoughts. Spencer did not like Ashley like that. She’d already liked (and lost) two girls in her grade that she really shouldn’t have and she’d be damned if there would be a third. Truth be told she wasn’t completely over one of them yet and this would just add more problems to an already overloaded Spencer.
“I have something I have to tell you.” Oh. Dear. God. She was drunk, thought Spencer. The girl really could not hold her alcohol. Never mind, this could be fun. NO! The blonde girl tried to clear her head of these little annoying thoughts that kept popping up. She did not….would not….could not like Ashley and she would try everything in her power to make sure that did not happen. Oh great, so now instead of answering she was just staring straight ahead like a dead goldfish. Classy.
“What, Ash? And don’t tell me you’ve forgotten again because you’ve already done that about 4 times this afternoon.” Spencer didn’t mean to sound cross it just sort of happened. It was that damned school, it just made her so angry all the time.
“No, no, I can’t tell you. But……I like someone…..in here.” Spencer thought she could see where this was going but Ashley was drunk and she did not want to have to deal with this in the morning. On the other hand, her suspicions could be completely wrong and it could be the fat biker sitting behind the girls. Maybe not. The granny in the corner? No, not here either. But there were plenty of people in the room besides them. Sod it, there’s nothing else for it but to ask, thought Spencer.
“Is it that guy over there?” She said pointing to a shady looking character in the corner.
“No.” Ashley had that look on her face like a little toddler who’d found a new game, discovered that it was fun although extremely annoying to anyone else playing it, and was not going to stop.
