“So all we have to do now is have your Mom let us borrow the car for us to go on our anniversary date,” Ashley explained.

“Alright, but that car is like her other child,” responded Spencer.  I think the she loves the BMW more than Glen or me.  Ashley chuckled.  Spencer and Ashley went to the kitchen. 

“Hello girls,” Paula stated.

“May we borrow your car keys, Mrs. C?” questioned Spencer with curiosity.  Ashley and I are going out for our anniversary.

“You don’t know how to drive though, Spence,” Paula observed.  Ashley, you do know how to drive, right?

“Yes, I do,” responded Ashley.

“You may borrow the BMW, but there will be no visible scratches on the car,” responded Paula as handed Ashley the car keys.

“Got it,” Ashley stated. I happen to be an excellent driver.  You have nothing to worry about, Mrs. C.

“I’m in good hands,” added Spencer.

“We’ll be home by curfew,” Ashley explained.  Spence, are you ready to go?

“Yes, I am,” said Spencer.  Ashley interlocked her fingers with Spencer’s.

“Before you go, I would like to talk to the both of you first,” said Paula.  Spencer and Ashley looked at each other not sure where the conversation as going to go and Paula began, “About what happened yesterday, I know you’re upset how Amy treated you for being with Ashley, Spence.”

“We both are upset,” Ashley corrected.  When Spencer is hurt, I am hurt as well.

“I see, I had a long talk with her after you came back here,” responded Paula.

“I didn’t hear any slamming doors,” Spencer stated. 

“Amy returned to her dorm,” added Paula.  Could you give me another chance to try to accept your relationship with one another?

“Very well,” Spencer responded. 

“Alright,” agreed Ashley with a smile.  Thanks.

“What made you change your mind?” Spencer questioned with curiosity.

“At first, I wasn’t too pleased with how you two were acting with one another in church today, but Glen pointed out that it could’ve been a lot worse,” explained Paula.

“I guess I have to thank him then,” Spencer said. 

“Have fun,” replied Paula.  Next time around, I will be more respectful of your feelings and support you.
