    Untitled – (Chapter: Chapter Nineteen)

“Thanks,” Spencer and Ashley said in unison.

“Thank you,” stated Spencer.  We’ll see you later.  Spencer and Ashley left the house.

“So I’m surprised you wore a dress for tonight,” Spencer began.

“I wanted to play dress up for my number one,” explained Ashley.  You’re worth getting dressed up for.

“Thanks,” Spencer said.  So you like to keep me on your toes?

“Exactly,” responded Ashley as she cupped Spencer’s cheek.  Ashley kissed Spencer sweetly on her lips.  Spencer smiled and intensified the kiss.  Ashley stopped the kiss.

“You sure do and that’s what I love about you,” Spencer smiled. Ashley pressed a button from Paula’s car keys to open the car doors.  She opened the car door for Spencer and Spencer stated, “Why thank you, Ms. Davies.”

“You’re welcome, Ms. Carlin,” stated Ashley.

Awhile later, Spencer and Ashley were eating at an outdoor restaurant.  “This place is really nice,” Ashley began.  When was the last time you came here?

“Yeah, I came here once with the family,” responded Spencer.  It was for Glen’s eighth graduation.  Mom and Dad went all out for him.

“What about for your eighth grade graduation?” Ashley asked with curiosity.

“It was the day Arthur made an appearance so Mom forgot about me and Glen had a date,” answered Spencer.  I had to wind up eating at McDonald’s.

“When we graduate next year, we’re so not celebrating at a fast food place,” Ashley pointed out.

“You got it,” said Spencer.  There was background music playing and a smile formed on Spencer’s lips.

    “What?” Ashley asked.

“May I have this dance, Ms. Davies?” questioned Spencer with curiosity.

“I’m really not much of a dancer,” Ashley admitted.  I might step on your feet or something.

“Neither am I,” responded Spencer.  I’m more of in the closet dance.

“I don’t want to embarrass you,” Ashley stated.  I c-can’t dance at all.

“You can never embarrass me,” pointed out Spencer.  I’m sure you can dance.  Please, Ashley.  For me?  Come on.

“Alright, you win,” Ashley said with a smile.  Spencer took Ashley by the hand and they walked to where the couples were dancing.  She put her arms loosely around Ashley’s neck.  Ashley put her arms around Spencer’s waist. They began to dance.

“So does this make up for yesterday’s drama?” Ashley asked with concern.

“Definitely,” answered Spencer with a smile.  As long as we’re together, everything is alright.  You see you’re not a bad dancer, Ash.

“Likewise,” Ashley agreed.  Thanks, I guess I got out of my clumsy phase.  Spencer chuckled and Ashley continued, “You happen to be a great dancer, Spence.”

“Maybe,” stated Spencer.  Can you believe that next year we are going to be seniors at King?  I don’t.  It seems like just yesterday that I was just the new girl.

“I know,” Ashley responded.  It was yesterday I entered King High and thought of it as a hell hole.  I can’t wait to get out of King High.  It’s like being in prison.

“It does feel like that sometimes,” said Spencer.  Did you think about what university are you going to attend?

“Babe, I’m not that smart,” Ashley replied.  I have the money, but I don’t have what it takes.

“Yes, you are,” pointed out Spencer.

“Do you think I can be a college girl?” Ashley questioned with curiosity.

“I think that you can be anything that you want to be,” responded Spencer simply. I believe in you, Ash.

“Likewise,” Ashley stated.  Have you thought about the universities you might be applying to yet?

“I thought about staying in LA to attend university,” responded Spencer.

“Really?” Ashley asked surprised.  You wouldn’t want to come back to Ohio?

“Yeah really,” answered Spencer.  I thought about coming back here, but I don’t believe in going back to where you started.  It’s about moving forward not backwards.  It could just be me.  I don’t know.  Ashley nodded in understanding.

“Life does move forward and doesn’t go backwards,” observed Ashley.  I have a girl with a plan.  I like that.
