    An Unexpected Love

“Thank you for trusting and opening up to me,” Ashley began. I know it wasn’t easy for you. It’s not something you just get over especially if you bottled up your emotions for so long and being hurt physically and emotionally by someone you’re supposed to trust. It’s alright to cry, Spence. Spencer shook her head no.

“There’s no need to cry,” said Spencer. It’ll only show my w-weakness.

“Crying isn’t a sign of weakness,” explained Ashley. I’ll stay with you so you don’t have to be afraid of him hurting you again even better yet we could have a sleepover at my house or something.

“I’ll be fine a-and I can’t run away from my problems forever,” sighed Spencer. I could try to, but what good would that do for me, Ash? Even if you do stay here, the thing is he’s crazy. If you see how my Dad really is, y-you’ll leave me and realize that getting together with me was the worst move you ever made.

“It’s not really running away, but you’ll get to clear your head,” Ashley pointed out. Even though your father is crazy, it doesn’t mean that I still can’t look out for you and take care of you. If something bad would happen to you, I would never be able to forgive myself. I don’t plan on leaving you ever and I could never think that choosing you was a mistake. My only mistake was not realizing that I needed you sooner.

A couple of days later, Ashley was getting a glass of water from the kitchen. “Thanks for looking out for my sister,” began Glen.

“No problem,” Ashley responded. It was nothing really. I don’t understand why anyone would want to hurt Spencer though. She’s such a sweet and wonderful girl. The girl’s an angel sent from heaven, Glen.

“I don’t know, but Spencer and I Dad’s had his share of issues,” admitted Glen. He really messed her up, Ash. She’s closed herself off to the world, but not to you. I’m glad that she’s learned to trust you.

“I feel there are more things that she didn’t tell me,” Ashley sighed. Do you have any idea of what they might be or anything?

“Look, it’s really not my place to say,” explained Glen. It’s Spencer’s and I know some, but there are things that she doesn’t tell me her brother, but it’s all a matter of how she doesn’t trust me completely.

“Yep,” Ashley stated. Ashley went back to Spencer’s room and began, “I have an idea to help my number one feel better with all the drama.”

    “What’s that?” asked Spencer.

“Why don’t you spend the night at my place tonight?” Ashley questioned with curiosity. I know you don’t want to run away from your problems with your Dad if or when he makes a reappearance, but everyone can use a night away from the madness, right? Spencer nodded in agreement. I’m sure you’re getting tired of being stuck hiding behind these four walls and it’ll help keep your mind off of things.

“Alright,” said Spencer. Thanks, you’re the best. Spencer hugged Ashley.

    “No problem,” Ashley replied.
