I wake up in Spencer’s bed facing her with her looking directly in my eyes.

“Why do you always do that!” She laughs at me.

“It’s you that always does it, I’ve told you this!” I answer back seriously.

“No, every time I wake up you’re always looking right at me.”

“That’s because every time I wake up you’re always looking right at me!” I try to reason with her. See, it’s been like this for a long time; I wake up face to face with Spencer and she apparently wakes up at the exact same time, so she thinks I’ve been laying there just watching her, and I think the same of her. Although if I had woken up before her I probably would just be looking at her, I can’t help it, she looks so completely adorable when she’s sleeping. Her dad, who I also call Dad, must have heard us because he knocks on the door and pokes his head in.

“What do you want for breakfast this morning girls?” He asks us.

“Eggs please dad.” I grin at him.

“Eggs for me too please dad.” Spencer also smiles at him. I love her dad’s cooking, like seriously it’s so good. He always comes up with something new and I used to look at what he’d make and think ‘do you really expect me to eat this?’ but now I just go with it because the outcome is always the same, one very satisfied Ashley.

“Ooo and toast!” Yeah, that’s me shouting that before he goes to leave for the kitchen.

The day was getting on so I decide to go home to let us both start getting prepared for the day of torture that is the first day at a new school. Spencer walks me to the front door and we stand there saying our goodbyes. Spencer is the first to speak.

“So I’ll see you…”

“Soon.”

“Soon.” She nods at me.

“Definitely.” I nod back.      

“Are you excited about tomorrow?” She asks.

“Nope.” She laughs at this. “Are you?”

“Kinda, yeah.”

“I’m terrified.” I admit to her. She’s always able to bring out how I’m really feeling, I don’t need to hide it around her, I can just be.
