We Were Just Meant To Be – (Chapter: 13 – New Schools)
“Me too.” She smiles at me and I pull her into a hug.
“But do you know what makes it all worth it?” I whisper into her ear.
“What?” She whispers back.
“This. You.”
“Yeah, I know what you mean.” I pull away from her and look her in her eyes as I hold onto her hands.
“Best summer ever.” I smile at her.
“Absolutely.” She smiles and nods.
“I better get going, but I’ll speak to you later.” I say as I kiss her cheek and pull her in for another hug.
Here endeth the summer. I started school the next day and at first I hated it until a girl took my attention in my English class.
“You can sit here if you want.” She says as she pulls out the empty seat next to her at her desk.
“No it’s alright, I’ll just stay here.” I say to her and she just smiles and turns around. I don’t know why she was being so nice, it made me a bit cautious, so I decided against going to sit next to her. Until we had a room change half way through double English.
“Umm I think I will sit here now, if you don’t mind?” I asked as I stood next to the desk she was now sitting at.
“No it’s cool, sit down.” And that I did. “I’m Madison.”
“Ashley.” I nodded at her.
“Cool.” And that was the start of a great friendship. Madison took me and showed me around as she’d already been at this school for five years. I figured out she lives five minutes away from me and we were very similar in our attitudes and opinions and it was good, just being able to be myself in a new place. This wasn’t how I was with Spencer though; Spencer brought out the softer more caring side of me, whereas with Marie I was more of a hard ass.
A few days passed with phone calls between Spencer and me, seeing how we were both getting on. I decided I’d go and surprise her one day and meet her at her school because I finished earlier than her and our schools were in a close proximity to each other. As soon as she saw me her face lit up and she ran and tackled me into a hug. On the days that I couldn’t go and meet her I’d go straight to her house after school, if Spencer wasn’t home yet there would always be someone there to let me in and Spencer would always be home shortly after I got there. And so this is how the weeks passed, with us falling into our usual routine at the weekends. The times I couldn’t spend with Spencer I spent with Madison, it was good having another friend close by.
Eventually the time came to go to the Paolo Nutini gig that I got Spence a ticket to for her birthday. The venue was an experience in itself, having to get frisked as I walked through the doors; it’s a bit rude if you ask me. The gig was good and Spencer loved it, and I loved to see her smile.
