We're Going Down – (Chapter: The Taste of Ink)

Ok really? This girl wouldn’t even let me take her home? What had I said or done that was so bad to her? Did I miss something here?

Spencer: That’s a waste of money. Jus come on.

    Ashley: Fine

I closed my phone and saw Ashley walking to my car. She got in and buckled up without even looking at me.

“Will you at least hear me out?” I asked her. She looked over and nodded so I continued. “Look I didn’t bring you here to try and get sex or anything. I didn’t even know if you were into me when we got here. And I’m not interested in just sex with you. I don’t know what I did or said but I’m sorry. But I have never felt that way when someone kissed me before and judging by the look on your face you haven’t either. And you can’t just ignore that. If you don’t want to be anything more than a friend that’s fine, we barely know each other anyway. So let’s start over.” I stuck my hand out to her. “Hi, I’m Spencer Carlin, nice to meet you.” I saw her laugh a little and she shook my hand. “I’m Ashley Davies, nice to meet you too.” She looked up at me and there was still something so hidden in her eyes. But I didn’t want to push it right now.

“So what do you say to some ice cream? There’s a really good shop down the road and they stay open late.”

“Okay sounds good.” We drove in silence to the ice cream shop but I was comfortable being quiet around her. When we got our ice cream we decided to walk around for a while.

“I’m sorry for being so weird at the club. I just wasn’t expecting to kiss you and got a little freaked. I don’t really do relationships. And my last one didn’t end so well.” Ashley looked at me and for a brief moment I saw the vulnerability that was there. Then it was hidden, shielded once more.

“I’m ok with being your friend Ashley, it doesn’t have to be more.” She looked like she wanted to say more but she just nodded. We continued with our walk and I checked my phone. It was getting pretty late and we did have school tomorrow. I really needed to sleep off everything that had happened tonight. Ashley confused me a lot, and I didn’t like it. I drove her home and told her I’d see her tomorrow.
