A Christmas Carol – Porter Style Ch 6

    Chapter 6

Tina pulled her car into a parking spot at Children’s Memorial Hospital. Her mind was in a million places. What had happened earlier that afternoon? When her hand brushed against Bette Porter’s, she could have sworn that she felt a surge of energy flow through her body. It was unlike anything she could ever remember experiencing or feeling.

She sat in her car unable to move. So many things had changed over the last few days and she hoped that today would finally bring some good news regarding her daughter. Leaning her head back against the head rest in her car she closed her eyes. Her thoughts drifted to Bette Porter. What was it about that woman and what had compelled her to invite her to come to Christmas dinner? Taking a deep breath she gathered her thoughts, exited the car and made her way into the hospital.

When she arrived on Angie’s floor there was a loud ruckus going on. There were toys and kids every where. As one of the nurses came by she asked what all the excitement was about.

The nurse replied that a generous donation of toys had been made that morning and the kids were just so excited they were having a hard time controlling them.

“Toys? Where did they come from?”

“Some lady named Bette Porter. She just showed up with this huge truck full of toys this morning. Isn’t it unbelievable?” With that the nurse scooted off in another direction.

Tina stood still. Did she just say Bette Porter? Couldn’t be. Making her way to Angie’s room she couldn’t shake that thought from her head. Why would Bette Porter deliver toys to the hospital? She walked into Angie’s room and found her sitting on her bed watching the TV.

Angie saw her mom walk into the room and her face lit up in a huge smile. “Mom!!”

“Hi sweetie, how are you feeling today?” Tina asked as she gave her daughter a big hug.

“I’m good. Did you see all the toys out there?”

“Yes I did. The kids all seem pretty excited.”

“Well, Timmy got a guitar, and Mark got a remote control truck, and Suzie got a dollie and Christie got an EZ – bake oven, Jennifer got a DS.”

    1. Gosh I love this story and am so glad that Bettes eyes have been opened. And now it looks as though her heart too will be opened to love and the possibility of a beautiful family in her future. Thanks for posting. Merry Charistmas to you and yours.

    2. What a great surprise this lunchtime. You posted a chapter my friend and brightened up my day in the office. I will read it now and comment again shortly. And it looks like I am first to comment for once.

    3. As promised here I am again. I loved the chapter – Tina’s daughter going to be ok. Perhaps Tina and Bette will be OK when they realise that the electricity between them is the start of something big at a great time of year. Thanks Taz for taking the time to write this story and post it. I am looking forward to the next instalment tomorrow. Christmas greetings and love to you and P. Love K & A xx

    4. Hey now, look who I got to top on this fine morning! LOL! Hi spazzie, you have done an amazing job weaving our ladies into this classic holiday tale. I cannot wait for the next chapter, but I also don’t want to see this story end. Writing a story can be challenging enough, but when you add the element of history to it, it takes on an even greater challenge. You have done well my friend. Happy Holidays to you and P. Love me. xoxo

    5. Thanks for the update. I can see how the cleaning lady could be kind of addictive. Being able to foresee the future could really come in handy. I’m so glad Angie is gonna be okay. Can’t wait to see what happens at the Christmas dinner.
