Chapter 146 Two hours later the operation was done. Bette had in the meantime alerted everyone. So Alice, Shane and Dana were all seated in the waiting room. Bette is holding Daniel, rocking him gently to make him sleep. Alice is holding Noah. The doctor comes into the waiting area. Bette stands up. “So?” Bette says, still holding Daniel. “The operation went well. She’s in post-op now, she’ll stay there for about one to two hours more. Then she’ll be moved to a room upstairs on the third floor, so if you want you can move up there now, or you can maybe go down to the cafeteria to get something to eat. It will be an hour at least.” The doctor says. “Okay, thank you doctor.” Bette says and turns and smiles to the others. “So should we go down to the cafeteria?” Alice asks. “Yeah. Let’s go.” Bette says. Shane and Dana grabs the diaper bags, while Bette and Alice carries the twins. They walk down and finds a quiet table in the corner of the cafeteria. Bette is quiet, having a good grip on Daniel and she seems to be somewhere else. Alice looks to Shane and then to Dana. “Bette?” Alice says. Bette comes back from her thoughts. “Yeah.” She says and looks at Alice. “Anything you want to talk about?” She says. Bette looks at her and then down on Noah, who was now sleeping and then at Shane and Dana. “We’re your friends, you can talk to us.” Alice says. Bette smiles. “Thanks, but it’s nothing. I’m just thinking.” Bette says and looks down on Daniel, softly stroking his chin. He’s awake but still, looking up at his mother. “You can think out loud too, we’re here to listen.” Alice says. Bette looks up and raise an eyebrow. “Maybe that came out wrong.” She says and smiles. “What I mean is, maybe you should think out loud, get your thoughts out in the open, and we, your friends are here to listen and to maybe give some input.” Alice says. “Thanks, but I’m okay. They suffered a lot. Give them some sweet moments please.
I’m guessing that due to so many trips to the hospital in the past few years, she’s worried about the boys. Like, maybe she’s wanting to ask Tina about who would be the boys’ godparent(s).
