“She once told me that, if something like this ever happened to her. That she would be paralyzed and unable to breathe on her own. She wouldn’t want to live.” Bette says.

Tina didn’t know what to says, she just kept holding her.

After a few minutes the phone rings.

Bette sit up and looks scared at Tina.

“I can’t take it.” Bette says.

Tina stands up and walks into the house and pick up the phone.

“Hello?” Tina says as she looks out on Bette who is slowly walking towards her.

“Oh, hello Mrs. Fairbanks” Tina says and listens carefully.

After a few seconds, a small smile emerge on Tina’s face. She meets Bette’s eyes.

“Thank you for calling. We’ll be right over.” Tina says and hangs up.

“What?” Bette asks.

“She woke up.” Tina says and smiles. She throws her hands around Bette.

“Oh my God.” Bette says and lets more tears fall down her cheek, but this time it was tears of joy.

“Come on babe. Let’s go. I told Mrs. Fairbanks that we would be right over.” Tina says. They let go of each other and grabbed their things and the boys and headed towards the hospital.

30 minutes later:

They walks towards the room. Erwin come out in a hurry.

“Erwin, hi. Is she okay?” Bette asks concerned.

“Yes, she’s fine, I just have to go to the bathroom.” He replies and smiles.

“Oh Okay.” Bette says and lets out a breath. Bette are carrying Noah and Tina’s carrying Daniel and the walk inside. Sharon, Dana’s mother is seated by the bed, holding Dana’s limb hand. She stands up and smiles.

“Hello Bette, Tina.” Sharon says and give them a smiles.

“Hi, Sharon.” Both Bette and Tina says.

“I’m gonna leave you alone for a little while. She can’t talk. She blinks once for yes, and twice for no. Why don’t I take the babies?” Sharon says.

“You don’t mind?” Bette asks.

“No, I don’t mind. I love children. It will give some privacy for a little while.” Sharon says.

“Thank you.” Tina says and hands Daniel over to her, just then Erwin enters.

“Erwin, grab a kid. We’re babysitting for a few minutes.” Sharon says.

He takes Noah in hi arms and they walk out.

Bette and Tina walks over to the bed. Bette takes Dana’s hand in hers and looks down on her.. Dana looks up at Bette.

“I don’t know what to say Dana, I can’t believe this. I’m so sorry.” Bette says and wipes away a few tears. Tina put her arm softly around Bette’s waist.

Dana still looks up at them and tears are pouring from her eyes.

“I love you Dana. I’m gonna do whatever I can to help you get through this.” Bette says.

Dana smiles a little. She tilts her head a little and mouth something. Bette leans down to Dana’s face. She hears that she tries to speak. So she leans in closer, ear right above her mouth.

“I love you too…” Dana whispers  slowly.

Bette smiles and wipes away some more tears, but more seems to come.

A few moments pass. Dana motions again with the tilt of her head.

Bette leans down again.

“I don’t want.. to live like this.” Dana whispers and looks seriously into Bette’s eyes as she pulls up. Bette put her hand to her mouth and cries more. Tina does her best to comfort. She strokes her back. After a minute or two, Bette is able to speak.

“You are getting better Dana. I’ll see to it, that you’ll get the top doctors, the top facilities the top whatever. It’s all yours. Just don’t give up Please?” Bette says, almost pleading and she also almost breaks down during that last word.

Dana closes her eyes Bette looks down.

“I know it seems like you life is over Dana, but it will get better. So please don’t give up. I can’t stand to loose you.” Bette says as she leans down and places a soft kiss on Dana’s forehead.

After another 15 minutes Sharon and Erwin comes in again with the twins. A little after that, Bette and Tina leaves. They headed back home.
