    A crush, a meeting then love?? – Chapter 48

A little later, at the Kennard house:

Bette drives into the driveway and parks the car. Tina sits still, looking at the house.

Bette places her hand on top of Tina’s and softly rubbing it.

“I’m here with you, you’re not going through this alone, remember that, okay?” Bette says. Tina looks over and smiles. Lauren and Chris’ car is also here. They get out of the car and walks up to the door. Tina takes Bette’s hand in hers, she then rings the bell. A few moments later the door opens and Tina is looking at Chris. She lets go of Bette’s hand and move in and hugs Chris. They stand like that for several minutes. They both were crying. They breaks off, Chris looks from Tina to Bette, he smiles.

“Nice to see you again, Bette.” He says.

“Yeah, you too Chris, I’m so sorry about your mother.” Bette replies.

“Thanks.” Chris says in a sad voice.

He hugs Tina one more time.

“I have to warn you Tina, he’s in a ***** mood.” Chris says about their father.

    “***** mood, how?” Tina asks.
“You’ll find out sooner or later I think.” Chris says and raises his eyebrows.

Tina find Bette’s hand again behind her back.

    “Is Sarah here?” Tina asks.

“Yes, she’s out with dad in the kitchen.” Chris replies.

They walk slowly into the living room, and then slowly into the kitchen. Tina is still holding Bette’s hand, and she was not going to let it go.

“Dad, look who’s here.” Chris says, making Jack turn around.

He looks at Tina, then at Bette, and then he sees their intervened hands.

Tina could see his anger racing.

“Hi dad.” Tina says in a cold voice.

He didn’t answer. He just stared at them, with a look that could kill.

“I don’t want you here. This is not your place to be.” He says coldly, looking away.

“This is my place to be. My mother died, I have the right to be here.” Tina says, getting angry, she is still holding onto Bette.

“She died because of you.” He yells out. Tina is shocked, so are Bette and Chris.

“DAD, what the ***** are you doing?” Chris asks.

“I’m telling it like it is. If she hadn’t come back here, your mother wouldn’t have been on this big rollercoaster of emotions that caused her heart to stop.” Jack says.

    1. Lauren…I’m glad Tina asked Bette to stay. But I’m really glad Tina finally told her father what she wanted to tell him after 6 years. Hope he decides to accept Tina like her mother did. Thanks for the update…please continue.

    2. wow..powerful..Tina need a break she is going through so much she deserve to be happy and have peace with Bette to enjoy their time together and about papa bear he deserved every word Tina said hope he change his mind and ask Tina for forgiveness i am glad Bette was at her side..ok amazing chappy i will wait for more tonight right?..lol :o)

    3. very emotional chapter. love how tina stuck with bette and stood up to her father. hopefully it will sink into his thick skull and he will come around. If not too bad for him.

    4. Unfortunately, Tina’s father is very much like the majority of str8 society. I have yet to figure out why it is such a big deal to them. What is so wrong with love….in any form?

    5. Lots of emotion. Good for Tina, she did her mother proud by standing up to her father. It reinforced what her mother was trying to fix when she found her way back to Tina.

    6. Here was a great piece of writing, Lauren, really it was.

The sadder thing to say is that it was particularly realistic and very acurately depicted. But that’s – alas -indubitable : Tina’s father is representative of too many people wor whom there has to be only one road to follow in life, the so-called “normal” one, and for whom even true love isn’t an “excuse”. I pity them, behind the anger, because they are people who denied the essential things in this world to only obey to blind “morality” rules. Even if they have to sacrifize their own family for that…

Now of course I hope this man will endly think about what the daughter he renounced has so rightly said to him.
Everything Tina’s said was absolutely right and if someone had to feel guilty for Mrs Kennard’s death, it would be this stobborn stoneheart man. Because his wife, too submissive to him and to society’s consideration, was secretely tortured all along these 6 years…

You also showed, on a beautifully subtle way, something essential here : the only presence of Bette next to her was enough to bring force to Tina and we all know she certainly wouldn’t have find so much strength to talk to her father the way she did if her beloved half wasn’t been there to give her her silent but powerful support.

Wonderful work, Lauren, intense and true. You master your story with talent, I mean it. Thank you !!

    7. That was a hard, emotional chapter…and you painted the picture real well. I hope that her dad will come around, but Tina is right…she needs to put down her foot now.

I hope that you’re having fun at shool! Let us know how that is going. Kiitos!
