A few extra scenes for episode 510

Tina heard the knocking on the front door, but only barely. The small window at the side allowed her to see Bette standing there. Tina hadn’t even had time to shower since arriving home from the ride, but Bette had clearly been home, cleaned up and changed already.

“Hi,” Tina greeted her as she swung the door open. “Come on in.”

“Hi, Tee,” Bette didn’t make eye contact as she spoke, instead she made a production of leaning over to remove her shoes.

“The decision to delay being up front with Jodi turned out well,” Tina said, her voice thick with sarcasm.

Bette shrunk back from the criticism. It was deserved.

“I heard you talked to Shane and Alice,” Bette finally mustered the courage to say something substantive. “I’m glad.”

“I had to talk to someone,” Tina replied. “I didn’t know where you went.”

“I guess I was trying to do some kind of penance,” Bette sighed. “This is not the way I wanted things to turn out.”

They walked together into the kitchen.

“Things like this rarely turn out as you think they should,” Tina replied. “Have you talked to Jodi since getting back?”

“I’ve called Tom,” Bette replied. “He said she doesn’t want to talk to me. Not that I blame her.”

“Why didn’t you just … lie last night?” Tina asked. “Rather than expend so much energy justifying yourself, why not just say ‘no Jodi I haven’t cheated on you.’”

“I couldn’t lie any longer,” Bette said, finally bringing herself to look at Tina. “It felt like denying that I’ve been with you would have been worse than having her find out.”

“What have we been doing?” Tina asked.

“Stumbling towards togetherness, I hope,” Bette answered. “Accepting that we do love each other.”

“Alice told you,” Tina said quietly. “And she wonders why I didn’t tell her we were sleeping together.”

“Alice told me because she wants us to be happy,” Bette said, reaching and placing her hand over Tina’s. “I want us to be happy.”

“Do you think we have a chance at that?” Tina asked.

“I’ve asked myself that over and over,” Bette said. “All I know is, I miss you when you’re not with me. I’m never more myself than when you are with me. And I’m tired of being sad because neither of us has the courage to say these things to each other.”

“So we’re no longer having an affair,” Tina said. “Do we…date?”

“I’d like to,” Bette said cautiously.

“Are we dating other people?” Tina asked, not wanting to sound trite about the situation in which they found themselves.

“I only want to date you,” Bette said.

“Good,” Tina replied. “Because I only want to date you.”

“First one tonight?” Bette suggested. “You and Angie can come over and we’ll all spend the evening together.”

    “Sleepover?” Tina asked.

“Yes please,” Bette smiled. “Do you have to be on set tomorrow?”

    “Not until Tuesday,” Tina replied.

“A lazy family day,” Bette said. “Perfect.”

“You won’t mind having Angie between us in bed?” Tina asked.

“I’ll love it,” Bette said. “She gets to sleep in her bed some of the night, though right?”

    “She’d better,” Tina laughed.

“I’m glad you’re laughing,” Bette said, squeezing Tina’s hand.

“I’m out of tears,” Tina said. “And it might not have been the ideal way to get here, but you can’t obsess about the what ifs.”

“I can wait for you this afternoon and we can drive back to the house together?”

“Sure, it won’t take me long,” Tina replied, as she stood to exit the kitchen.

“Tee?” Bette kept her from moving too far.

    Tina stopped and turned.

“Thanks for taking another chance with me,” Bette said.

“As if either one of us has a choice in the matter,” Tina smiled, brought Bette’s hand to her mouth and kissed it gently. She turned to head towards the shower, leaving Bette to contemplate the reality of her last statement.

Fate, it seemed, had indeed intervened.

    1. Love all of your Tibette and your filling in the blanks. I have been looking for your updates every day. (the end) – you just mean for this update?right? Thanks for taking the time and sharing your story

    2. Loved it. I especially liked this line from Bette “And I’m tired of being sad because neither of us has the courage to say these things to each other.”… So very true, if only they talked to each other instead of swallowing all their feelings up and relying on that silent communication they have going between them. Yes it works pretty well most times, just not when the subject is the two of them and their relationship them it turns into a comedy of mistakes *end rant* Thanks for writing this additions to the episodes, they so help with the understanding of this characters.

    3. “It felt like denying that I’ve been with you would have been worse than having her find out”That was GREAT!Thanks, wish you continue soon with next chapter

    4. Not that I’m telling you what to do, but you could run a whole story passed on this chapter…them dating, the girls reactions, them coming to live together again…it doesn’t have to be this 100 chapter story or anything like that, you could do it in like 10 or just a few more chapters…but that’s just my humble opinion…it would rock! OK Loved this fun bit and it’s good to see them speak after the campfire. Why does IC leave these bits out…like we really care about Max’s storyline or (insert the new character of ther year…) storyline. Again, thanks

    5. JKS – I loved the rich dialogue. I wish Tina would have been a little more upset about Bette’s abandonment of her after the campfire scene and the last leg of the ride, though. I watched the two of them riding and all I could do was wonder if she had even said “I’m sorry” to Tina before beginning the ride. Thanks for filling in the numerous gaps from the show. Please consider writing at least one more chapter about their first date. It would be fantastic!

    6. Excellent! This is exactly how Ep 10 should have ended. The talk between B&T is englightening. Thanks for this update. Lucero & Marsha – From Mexico City

    7. Swimie, that was just wonderful. You captured the love and desire they feel for each other. Your phrases that Tina and Bette uttered to each other, “As if either one of us had a choice,” and Bette’s “I’m tired og being sad because neither of us has the courage t say these things to each other.” Those lines were the most perfect that have been said by them to each other since this show started. Thank you for sharing the one-offs with us. We know you are still in school and studying very hard, we wish the very best for you. Do your studies before writing for us, we understand. Thanks again. Post when you can.

    8. Oh, I feel better now. ;-) This additional scene has made feel hell a lot better! I felt so bad for Tina during and after that campfire scene. And Bette didn’t even bother to say a word to her. I like how my fave fanfic writers use the loopholes, the gaps, the missing links, the WTFs in the show’s episodes as grist for their mill. Thanks a lot for this, JKS, and please keep your stories comin’. :>

    9. I love it, I love it, I love it. I love how after any mess Bette and Tina cause they still always find their way back to each other. And thank you for giving us something to look forward to between episodes. Please post something soon.

    10. i loved it, i loved it, i loved it…keep them coming (can i tell you a secret? you’re better writer than the ones ilene has on the show)
