A Search for the Truth Ch. 2

Bette: Oh I see you’ve met Reika.

Tina: Met Reika. Elizabeth Kennard-Porter what is this woman doing in our kitchen!

"Tee calm down. Reika and her family will be our guess for awhile," Bette said sheepilessly.

Tina: Excuse me Reika but I believe that my wife and I need to have a private conversation in the bedroom.

Tina grabbed Bette’s hand and swiftly led her to the bedroom and shut the door.

Tina was seeing green by this point. She tried to slow down her breathing by taking deep breaths.

Bette waited with baited breath fearful of Tina’s wrath.

Tina closed her eyes and took one more deep breath.

Tina: Why on earth didn’t you telling me that we had guest last night.

Bette: Baby you were sleeping and I didn’t want to wake you.

Tina: Bette I think this would constitute a reason to wake me.

Bette: Come on Tee you know how you get when you haven’t had enough sleep.

Tina eyebrows went up: No Bette tell me how do I get!

    Bette swallowed hard.

    Bette: Well…

    Tina stared Bette down.

    Bette: Um….Well..Jus a little.

    Tina raised her eyebrows again.

    Bette: Cranky.

    Tina: Do not!

Bette let out a laugh: Honey, yes you do but I love you. I just wanted to make your day a pleasant one.

"For the sake of all of us," Bette stated under her breathe.

Tina: Okay my crankiness is a discussion for another day but please tell me why this woman and her family are in our home? Are they running from something?

Bette: …Um what would make you say that?

    Tina: So they are then?

“No, … they are eyewitnesses to a crime,” Bette thought quickly.

Tina: Bette we are not the freakin eyewitness protection service.

Bette: I know honey but they had nowhere to go.

Tina: So the logical conclusion is to bring them here? What about your family’s safety, huh? Did you ever stop and think of me and the children? You know what I can’t have this conversation with you right now. I’m late for work.

Tina was getting ready to walk by Bette but Bette grabbed Tina and held Tina in her arms. Tina surrendered.

Bette: Listen babe, they will only be here for a short while. I promise. And for the record I would protect you and the children with everything in me.

Tina silently shook her head in agreement and left the room and jumped in the shower. Tina attempted to wash the events from this morning from her mind but something was off. She felt Bette was keeping something from her. She was sure of it and she needed to find out what. She needed to find out the real reason Rieka and her family were staying with them.

    1. Don’t blame Tina at all. Surely Bette will tell her the real truth of the matter and hopefully she won’t have to protect their family with all that is in her. What are the women running from, I’d like to know as well. Hope it isn’t too terrible. Thanks for posting.
