“Oh!” The blood rushed to Tina’s cheeks and her face is now a shade of light pink.
The adorable blush was not lost on Bette. “It’s cute when that happens.”
Tina felt the warmth on her cheeks. “What?”
Bette had a wry smile on her face. “You blushing.”
Tina’s cheeks just got even warmer as she tried to deny Bette’s observation. “Oh…no I’m not…blushing. I’m just…hot.”
Bette leaned in closer and whispered into Tina’s ear, “I completely agree with you.” With that, she gently placed her hand on Tina’s back and led her to the oil painting.
Tina could barely get enough oxygen into her lungs. She was unsure if she was holding her breath or breathing too hard…but it was obvious Bette Porter took her breath away.
They moved closer to the artwork and Tina tried to focus on the painting. “The beach is so serene.”
Bette agreed. “Yes. I love the woman’s expression.”
Tina focused on the woman. “She appears so mischievous and happy.”
Bette laughed, “I wonder what she was looking at in the distance.”
“Must have been a nude beach with a hot body contest going on?”
The two chuckled and continued walking.
“Are you an artist as well?” Tina asked.
“I dabble occasionally, mainly paint…when something inspires me.”
“Have you painted anything lately?”
Bette shook her head ‘no’ but added, “I actually think I’m getting ready to start something new.”
Tina arched her eyebrow and teased. “Found your inspiration, have you?
Bette’s dark eyes bore into her. “Actually, yes.”
Tina tried to hold her gaze but looked away. ‘Fuck! There she goes again. I’m going to need an inhaler!’
Tina composed herself and asked, "You’re the kind that gets the girls in trouble all the time aren’t you?"
“Maybe…” Bette shrugged her shoulders.
Tina laughed. “Maybe YES!”
Bette chuckled softly. “I don’t know Tina. I think the seemingly sweet innocent from the South are the ones that you have to watch out for."
Tina suddenly stopped the steady pace to check out a sculpture, causing Bette to accidentally bump into her.
“Oh, sorry.”
“Yeah, you should be.” Tina smirked.
“You’re not going to make things easy on me, are you?” Bette asked with a wry smile, loving the challenges Tina threw her way.
“Me? Easy? I’m not easy, Bette Porter. You behave yourself now.” Tina replied, sauntering confidently closer to the sculpture.
Bette couldn’t help but chuckle at the banter she had with Tina and also took the opportunity to discreetly check out the blonde’s derriere.
“Coming to enjoy the view?” Tina asked, referring to the sculpture she was examining.
“Yes,” Bette answered with a grin. ‘The view is just beautiful.’

Definitely a fun chapter. Loved their volley back and forth – not too sweet, not too sappy, none too cheesy either. ;) Absolutely perfect.
