    All Time Love

Her breaths suddenly became shorter and harsher than normal.
Her pulse, a few beats quicker.
This part of her job, the act of incising human flesh was never light, never routine, no matter how familiar.
And looking down at the sterile field in front of her, she knew all too well just how familiar this was. For there below the neatly laid out and layered blue drapes lay the woman she knew – oh so well.
    Tina…
Her past, their past came hurtling back, slapping her in the face almost as loudly as the whacking sound, the scrub nurse next to her, had made when she had landed the requested scalpel in her gloved hand.
The preliminaries of OR life were over and it felt like a blur but she knew she had been focused enough to remain professional. Sponges, needles and instruments had been counted and checked, their number recorded on a whiteboard on the wall and on a back up clipboard.
The check-off had been a comforting hum of words, the perfectly tuned machinery of this orderly workplace soothing to the comparative mayhem which swirled in Bette’s head.
She had hidden her turmoil well, one because her face was effectively hidden behind her surgical mask and two, her training had perfected the professional guise she had relied on so many times in her career.
So when her assistant had read aloud the expiry date, two years away, on the bottle of local as he had opened it and poured it in a sterile bowl, behind her, Bette had heard herself say, "Good, I’m sure we’ll be done by then."
Then she had looked over to her left asking the anaesthesiologist, "OK to start?"
When his words, "Dig in," echoed over to her and the cool feel of the sharp instrument she had requested, crossed her palm, the reality of the situation had hit her full on.
Her hand curled around the surgical knife, ready for the full-fledged incision she was about to make. Her last three fingers gripping around the handle, her thumb alongside the blade, her index finger on top, right over the belly of the blade, fitting perfectly in the ergonomically designed curve there, the most important of all her digits, in full control of the depth of the cut and minutely receptive to any resistance the knife might encounter.

    1. And the reel of unwanted memories is left behind for the next chapter to come… Seems like Kins found a new way to keep her fans clinging on the edge of a cliffy ending, made them wondering what is actually happened? … :-) amazing writing Kins!! Thanks for the update! :-) Maybe need an extra warning on your AN that the chapter is not suitable for a weak stomach, the details are amazingly so clear and implicit. The oozed blood can be pictured so clearly and I was getting panicky internally like Bette too ;-) hehe.. Top grade story! PPVS and let the memories engulfing us in the next chapter :-) thanks again!!

    2. Your writing, as usual, is beautiful, even when depicting icky things. But I must say – at the risk of sounding piggy – it ends MUCH too quickly. ;-)

    3. I am almost speechless. As usual I am awed by your immense talent and heartbroken over the situation they are in at the moment. Can harldy wait until Tina wakes up and finds that Bette has saved her life. I, too, love details and no it wasn’t too much. It shows the anguish Bette felt at what was happening to the love of her life and she had to dispense with her personal feelings and just be the surgeon with a case that had almost insurmountable odds of survival. Thanks for bringing us another wonderful story. You’re awesome.

    4. WOW this is 100% drama! I think for a doctor, having to save the life of a loved one or a family member must be the worst thing that can happen in your profession.Excellent writing, very descriptive, sometimes I find it difficult to read because English is not my original language, and the only thing I would like if there were more dialogue between characters because it makes the story more enjoyable and easy to understand and follow and I think that is missing it in your stories

    5. Great writing and story.Love it.Love the drama of it too.Look forward to the next Chapter. You are one of the few FF writers that keep the Tibette story alive and for that i thank you.I am in awe of the many scenarios that are created around Tibette.Keep up the good work.

    6. Thank you Kins as that chapter was utterly amazing. it was so perfect I realized that I was holding my breath with the suspence. You are an incredible writer and the details kept me on the edge of my seat! Thank you!
