    All Time Love

"Shane," the surgeon acknowledged her friend, quickly wiping the single tear which had managed to spill over and trying with all her might to appear detached and unaffected by the recent events, "You’re still here?"
"Well, you know how it is… in the ER… and with the weather we’ve been having …" the young doctor let her words trail off, keeping her gaze on the surgeon, not one bit fooled by the front her friend was presenting.
A few awkward seconds passed, when the two women stood looking at each other not really knowing what to do or what to say.
"How are you?" Shane finally said, her voice genuine and full of empathy.
Bette averted her eyes almost immediately, clenching her teeth at the question. "How did she think she felt?" the surgeon thought angrily.
She had wanted to shout at the stupidity of the question but reeled her anger in at the last moment, knowing full well her protege was in no way responsible for the situation.
"I’m sorry," Shane apologised, sensing the sudden tension in the room, "Tonight was just…. crazy and all the on-call surgeons were busy … you were the only one there, truly …. and I couldn’t afford waiting considering Tina’s condition."
The mention of the name of the woman she had loved more than life itself made her heart jump. She had tried for so long to forget it, even the world around her had taken its time forgetting it but eventually had ceased referring to the name, at least in her presence. Bette, had never managed, no matter how hard.
"Two years, Shane, two years!" Bette murmured not trusting her voice to break if she spoke any louder. She turned again towards the window, "And she re-enters my life like this!"
Shane could feel the hurt in her friend’s voice. She hazarded a further question, "What’s her condition?"
"Critical, I thought at one point, we wouldn’t be able to save her…" Bette answered with ease, reverting to her doctor’s ways. She could not allow herself to be affected, despite how much she had been hurt and how much she was still hurting.
    "Do you still love her?"
Shane’s question took her by surprise and Bette whipped her head around, eyes glaring at the young doctor.
"That’s neither here nor there, Shane," Bette spoke through gritted teeth, "She left me, remember?"
Shane realised that she had gone one step too far but made no excuse for it.
"Do you believe in fate, Bette?"
    Bette shrugged her shoulders.
"Because if you ask me, fate may have something to do with what happened tonight," Shane continued, "Maybe you shouldn’t ignore it…"
"Shane, I consider you a friend…. but right now, I’d like you to leave… I’m tired, tired of thinking, tired of remembering." Bette ordered her friend wearily.
The young doctor walked towards the open door but turned and looked at Bette one more time. "Get some sleep, then…maybe will talk some more."
The door closed and darkness engulfed her office one more. She walked  around her desk and felt for the large sofa in the room. Overcome with exhaustion, she lay on the soft seats wrapping her arms around her torso as she shivered in the sudden coolness of the room. She had not noticed how cold it really was and yet they said hospital were overheated.
Sleep came quickly and with it, started a whole reel of unwanted memories.

    1. And the reel of unwanted memories is left behind for the next chapter to come… Seems like Kins found a new way to keep her fans clinging on the edge of a cliffy ending, made them wondering what is actually happened? … :-) amazing writing Kins!! Thanks for the update! :-) Maybe need an extra warning on your AN that the chapter is not suitable for a weak stomach, the details are amazingly so clear and implicit. The oozed blood can be pictured so clearly and I was getting panicky internally like Bette too ;-) hehe.. Top grade story! PPVS and let the memories engulfing us in the next chapter :-) thanks again!!

    2. Your writing, as usual, is beautiful, even when depicting icky things. But I must say – at the risk of sounding piggy – it ends MUCH too quickly. ;-)

    3. I am almost speechless. As usual I am awed by your immense talent and heartbroken over the situation they are in at the moment. Can harldy wait until Tina wakes up and finds that Bette has saved her life. I, too, love details and no it wasn’t too much. It shows the anguish Bette felt at what was happening to the love of her life and she had to dispense with her personal feelings and just be the surgeon with a case that had almost insurmountable odds of survival. Thanks for bringing us another wonderful story. You’re awesome.

    4. WOW this is 100% drama! I think for a doctor, having to save the life of a loved one or a family member must be the worst thing that can happen in your profession.Excellent writing, very descriptive, sometimes I find it difficult to read because English is not my original language, and the only thing I would like if there were more dialogue between characters because it makes the story more enjoyable and easy to understand and follow and I think that is missing it in your stories

    5. Great writing and story.Love it.Love the drama of it too.Look forward to the next Chapter. You are one of the few FF writers that keep the Tibette story alive and for that i thank you.I am in awe of the many scenarios that are created around Tibette.Keep up the good work.

    6. Thank you Kins as that chapter was utterly amazing. it was so perfect I realized that I was holding my breath with the suspence. You are an incredible writer and the details kept me on the edge of my seat! Thank you!
