    An epistolary affair

We were both out of breath when we finally broke the kiss, but our smiles left no doubt that this was the first of many more to come.

After breakfast, we decided to take a walk in the small streets of Montmartre, and holding hands, we reached the Place du Tertre, where we watched with amusement as tourists of all nationalities posed for the dozens of caricaturists gathered there.

Then we spent some time in the Sacre-Coeur’s basilica after which we descended the multitude of stairs that led us to the Place Saint-Pierre.

And there you saw the carrousel…

I heard you shriek, and before I could even react, you were dragging me towards the huge attraction… The familiar anxiety that submerged me in that moment paralyzed me instantly, and feeling the tug on your hand, you turned around in surprise.

The look on my face must have been alarming to you because you were beside me in a heartbeat, asking me what was wrong.

How could I tell you, T?… Me, a mature and grown up woman, the director of the painting department of one of the most prestigious museums in the world… How could I tell you that I was scared of carrousels…?

Blushing furiously and my eyes riveted on the ground, I explained to you how, when I was 6 years old, I had fallen from a wooden horse on a carrousel, in front of my father and my sister. That day, the accident had broken my arm and initiated my terrible fear of carrousels.

You didn’t laugh… You softly placed your fingers under my chin and lifted my face to meet your eyes. What I saw in them was nothing but understanding and affection, and my heart swelled at the sight. You placed a soft kiss on my mouth and you whispered against my lips.

    “Ice cream then…”

And with that, you grabbed my hand again and we ran together towards the ice cream truck on the other side.

A while later, we were both eating our delicious treats in a corner of the square, while looking at the crowd of tourists. You spotted a parapet nearby and climbed to sit on it. Watching you, I couldn’t help but smile at your playful nature. You smiled back, and that’s when I noticed the bit of ice cream left on the corner of your mouth. I smiled inwardly thinking that this was the typical cliché scene where I should be getting closer and sensually clean it off with my finger. Well… That is exactly what I did!

    1. Madam, for your Bette, my Tina will climb the highest mountain, swim the deepest ocean and cross the warmer deserts! For you have depicted the most tender, loving and incredibly romantic character there is. Can I really confess to being jealous of a fictitious character! Well you what I will…..I confess I am jealous of Tina! There is about a million places in your letter where my heart has jumped and until the very last line my heart was pounding as hard as the hearts of these two, were! This is how outstanding this piece was! You are unbelievably talented and I thank you too for agreeing to co-write with me! xxxx

    2. That was incredibly awesome. And that was before I even reached the love scene. I love the role play in the garden you can only be that silly with the people you love easily able to let your guard down without no hesitation. Wow I don’t know how I’m going to go on until the next post. You both are doing a wonderful job. Can I just say Kword this is the best chapter you have written and that’s why it was probably the hardest.

    3. Absolutely magnificient!!!! Both of you continue to amaze me with your writing and this letter just took my breath away with its love, the playfulness in the garden completely and totally laced with love, gallantry and the wondrous romance of a time period gone by. Can’t you just see Bette in one of the uniforms of the Musketeer emblazoned with the crest of the House of D’Artagnan, with the sword of her father and his hat doused while in a low bow to her Queen, her Royal Highness Christina. Beautiful chapter. Can hardly wait for more because you continue to outdo the last letter. This story must somehow be made into a book for all to enjoy. It would be a number one best seller. Truly beautiful love story. Thanks for posting.

    4. Thud!…. *_* Kword… Even though I got bump in the head after hit the floor because of reading this, I would be still happily smile afterward! … :-D This one is simply blow me away! Those cute silliness of the role play and the love declaration inside the private garden… And the playfulness of Tina which is so endearing yet so romantic when left Bette the sketch-which maybe will become the first art in display inside the Bette Porter gallery? ;-)… OMG.. I would read this again later during the day, and looks like I would never get tired to re-read this letter! I guess Tina “herself” would treasure it more ;-) and about the tips of the places in Paris… Thanks! It’s inspirational! We’ll have one route under the title of this story – “epistolary route” … Let’s just hope that nobody is being arrested for breaking the rule by jumping over to closed area :-p lol … This story is getting better and better … And again, you two fabulous writers are really amazing!! :-) you two made me wondering: is romantic part of your genes or what…?? ;-) Looking forward to the next letter… :-)

    5. God, Kword. That was probably one of the most romantic letters ever written. It had everything from being funny, to sexy, to sweet, to flirty, to just so heartfelt. I’m in love with your Bette…fanfic or not!
