Bike Ride, Life Ride – Chapter 22
After what seemed like an eternity, the social worker exited Bette’s room. Tina stood up to greet her and thank her for talking to Bette. The social worker patted Tina on the back and took a minute to explain to her that Bette is very fragile right now. She explained that Bette was not ready to go into great detail about the sexual assault incident and felt judged and pressured by Tina. That Bette desperately wanted to please Tina, but she just wasn’t ready and felt that Tina was disappointed in her because of it. She also explained that Bette felt ashamed about what happened and angry with herself that she did not fight back and prevent the assault. On top of this, Bette was worried that Tina would be less interested in Bette and somehow disgusted with her as a result. The social worker gave Tina the advice of supporting Bette and letting her process through her feelings and reassuring her that the incident had not changed her feelings toward her. Tina again thanked her for her time and for sharing with her.
Tina walked away feeling heavy hearted. She certainly did not want to make Bette feel bad and didn’t realize the spectrum of feelings that Bette was now having. She exhaled heavily as she put her hands on the door handle to pull.
Bette was laying in her bed looking out the window absently. She had a look of intensity about her and Tina knew that she had a lot on her mind.
Tina said “Hey sweetheart…”
Bette said “Hey you…”
Tina said “Do you feel a little better now that you talked to someone?”
Bette said “I feel exhausted”.
Tina said “I understand. You have had a long day already and it is only mid-morning. How about if you take a rest and then I will take you for a walk outside and you can get some sunlight on your skin, how does that sound?”
Bette nodded to Tina and then said “I just need to rest for a little bit”.
Tina said “Go ahead and rest Bette. I am right here”.
Bette said “Do you have work that you need to do T?”
Tina cocked her head to the side and asked “I could work. Why?”
Bette said “If you had the time and you didn’t mind I’d like it if you could lay here with me and hold me…”
Tina said “Nothing is more important then that baby”.

Very good chapter!!! I am glad Bette is talking to someone about what Jodi did to her. Thank you PPS
Bette made a very good mood with talking with someone about the incident..
Good update. I’m happy that Bette talked to someone. Jodi really made Bette less valuable and unimportant. PPS
I guess pay back is no Bette thing, but if some one had did that to Tina,Bette would be in jail for murder, In my mind eyes Tina will get Jodie, and it want be a nice way. Then when Kit learns about it it will be worse. Anyway you look at it Jodie will get her just dues, Tina,Kit orthe gang. Love that Bette did take the first step tho.
I was so hoping there would be a post from you, and there it was! Thank you.
Glad Bette is talking to someone, hopefully one day she’ll feel she can talk to Tina! PPS:)
Glad that Bette talked to someone. I just wish it had been Tina. Maybe in time, she will. Is Bette walking now? PPS
Poor Bette. Glad she decided to talk to someone. I’m sure she’ll talk to Tina when the time is right. Great chappie.
good move on bette’s part to talk alone because tina would have went for blood! :))PPS
I love Tina’s strength ….. And I can’t wait for her to kick Jodi’s ass!!
Great Chapter… at lesat Bette talked to someone. Please post soon! Thank you!
Poor Bette she is so fragile. It’s good that Tina got a chance to talk to the social worker now she knows that it’s not that Bette doesn’t want to talk about it she just needs to get over it in her own time. Tina also needs to show Bette as much love and affection as she can so she knows that Tina is not turned off by what happened to her. PPS
Glad that Bette decided to talk to a professional. Tina is trying hard but maybe a little too hard with the jodi thing, but I can also understand Tina wanting to protect Bette.
Geez that was heavy. Did Bette give the social worker permission to disclose all of that stuff to Tina? In what chapter did u disclose about this sexual assault? I seem to have missed something. Thx, a heavy subject to write about.
I think Tina is right in pushing Bette to report Jodi. She {Jodi} should not get away with this. I hope Bette comes to her senses.
Good that Bette talked about it to someone. Also I understand why she wanted it to be just between her and the social worker. Sometimes it’s easier to confide into a stranger than into our beloved ones but in the right time she’ll open up to Tina too. Thanks for posting!
