Blizzard
Bette shook off the memory with a loud cry of distress. She heard the bedroom door open but she was too lost in her sorrow to be bothered by it. When she felt small hands on her cheeks she turned her gaze up to her now 10 year old daughter. It was obvious the girl had been crying.
Bette just sobbed even harder and Angelica cried along with her wrapping her arms around her neck. Bette hugged her daughter close and they cried together. They fell back onto the bed together, Bette cradling Angelica to her chest.
"I’m gonna miss her mommy," Angelica whimpered.
"Me too baby, so much," Bette said her voice raw from all the crying.
"Where is she now mommy?"
Bette swallowed a lump in her throat and responded, "she’s with grandpa Melvin and Auntie Dana in Heaven baby."
"And Auntie Jenny?"
"And Auntie Jenny," Bette confirmed.
Angelica understood what had happened, but she didn’t fully understand the concept of death. "Will I see her again?" Angelica said almost inaudibly.
Bette let out a sob and answered, "no baby. You will never see Auntie Kit again, but she will always be with you. She will be in your heart like she is in mine."
Angelica only sobbed louder and clinged to her mother. Bette understood the pain, but her daughter needed to know the truth. The door opened wider and they both looked up to find Tina walking in with 3 year old Andy, who immediately sensed something was wrong.
"Ma, Angi’ca, why you cry?" Andy said as tear filled Tina sat down on the bed. He immediately scrambled over to them and gave them a hug. Tina wiped her tears and scooted over to join the hug.
"Come on you two, Momma B needs some rest," Tina said giving all three of them tender kisses on the forehead.
Angelica immediately kissed Bette good night and scampered off to her room. Andy protested a bit, but after Bette restated Tina’s order, the toddler gave in with a pout. He kissed them both good night then padded down to his bedroom.
"What am I gonna do without her T?" Bette said with a shuddering breath.
Tina’s tears spilled out of her eyes as she said, "I feel like I lost a sister too."

Beautiful but very sad as you said it would be. I’m just glad it wasn’t one of “our girls.” You scared the hell out of me when you said in last chapter that this one would be very sad. You are a great writer and I always look forward to your next story. I really admire that mind of yours. Thanks.
