Boundary Between Fear and Love – Chapter 6

    Previously

“And Al, you would make a great Mom. You are like the most loving person ever and your fun. You would be the best mom.” There is this part of me, and its growing by the second, that would love to buy into this dream world she’s creating for us, but its way too good of a fantasy to buy into. It would suck too much if that fantasy didn’t come true.

I look away from her, unable to match her gaze, “Thanks, Dane, but I’m not so sure.”  After a few moments of silence, I look up at her and find her staring at me. I can’t figure out the look, it isn’t angry, but it isn’t Dana. It’s something.

Her eyes aren’t moving from mine. They are shifting between my eyes, like to make sure she doesn’t miss something, she puts her hand on my heart. “That heart, could never be a bad mother. And I don’t want to hear that from you again. Do you understand me?” I just nod, unable to speak, more than a little taken aback by the veracity in her words.

“Al, I’m serious. I hate when you put yourself down like that. I don’t get it. Please, don’t say things like that.” Her eyes are tearing. Is that because I put myself down or because of something I’ve totally missed. I wiped the tear that began to fall down her cheek. She really knows me too well.

“I’m sorry, it just hurts that you don’t see what I see and I don’t know how to get you to.” She is silent for a minute, but she has that look that says she isn’t done, so I wait, after a second, she finds her thoughts, “I wish you could see yourself through my eyes for just a minute. You’d never doubt yourself again.”

The sincerity in her eyes makes me accept it. Even if only for a second. And damn does that feel good. I reach to touch her face, a tear now falling down my cheek. “I love you Dane. So ***** much. I love you.”

    Chapter 6

Dana left on tour this morning and it just sucked. I mean I know that she sort of needs to do that, it is her career and all, but it still sucked. I hate when she leaves. I know its only for four days, but I get this sickening feeling in the pit of my stomach that she isn’t coming back. Not literally of course, she lives here, where else would she go? But that she won’t come home to me. That she’ll come to her senses or something while she’s away.

    1. I love the way you write. You just nailed all that horrible stuff about Alice wanting Dana to be successful but being jealous of the consequences of it. Great, as usual.

    2. I have this glowing feeling in me. Your writing is so good that I felt what Alice felt. And that is one of my fave songs and it fits perfectly in this chapter.

    3. i have to say it is a great song, and he has two songs, that being one of them, that I have seen convert people over to country, even those hard core, i would never listen to country music people.

    4. I still stand by my comment that this should be written for the show’s script. It’s perfect- their thougths, actions, how they know what the other needs. And I love Alice’s constant stream of thought. I always thought it would be interesting to write out what Alice was thinking during the show.

My favorite line in this chapter was, ” please know that what I say is real. What I feel is real. What I want is you, only you.” I think that Dana’s feelings often get overlooked because she’s “inexperienced” or viewed as the little sister and doesn’t know what it is to love. Great job- can’t wait till the update!!!

    5. to me this is the way they have to work things on the show. Let them together work through their issues, but no… well we’re lucky to have your stories and the others danish writers, thanks.

    6. definitely lword script material. this is the way we want it to be in the future. Danish solving insecurities and talking about them.. Dana is so cute :D Alice, believe Dana. Believe what she says :)

    7. SO FUCKING ROMANTIC! i’m such a sucker for romance.. and i am really all for Dana and Alice. how i wish i could just watch them in person doing this, loving each other like this. the way you write is just amazing.. the show should get you to write for them. hope this happens in the show.. that song, i dedicated that to my gf.. so that left me breathless… anyway, i want SOME MORE! great work lucia!
