Boundary Between Fear and Love – Chapter 6
Dana asked them to check up on me? What does she think I’m three? I guess I should find it nice and thoughtful, but again, self loathing makes you loathe others as well, so, you figure it out.
“Fine. I’ll be there in twenty minutes.”
“Cool. See you.” And with that, the phone was dead. I run through the apartment getting my stuff together and am out the door in five minutes.
I sit down in the Mini and my eyes were drawn to the radio. Stuck to the radio was an envelope with my name written on it. I rip open the envelope and see that there are a few sheets of paper.
The first reads –
“Alice – just turn on the radio and put the tape in. Don’t read the next sheet until after the tape. Love you – love me.”
I actually laughed out loud when I saw the second sheet –
“I said don’t look at this until after the tape. You are so predictable. But that’s one of the reasons I love you, your curiosity is insatiable. Now don’t turn the page yet!!”
So ok, she knows me. I figure I should appease her and put on the tape, I have to admit I am just as curious about that.
As soon as hit the tape I hear the first few bars of a song that I don’t recognize. It isn’t often I don’t recognize a song, especially one that Dana knows. Then a voice fills the car. I know I know the voice, yet I can’t place it. I know its country, which explains why I can’t place it. It takes me about 30 seconds to give up trying to figure out who is singing and listen to the words. I can’t believe she thought to do this at 3:30 am when she left. I can feel my eyes start to tear as I hear the words, and now I’m cursing myself for missing the first part of the song trying to figure out the singer. My cheeks are stained with tears by the time song finishes and I am just overwhelmed. I go to hit the rewind button so that I can hear the song again when the Dana’s voice comes over the speakers, “Hi Al. You can look at the next page now. I put the words down for you, no doubt you spent half the song trying to figure out who it was instead of listening to the song. It was Garth Brooks by the way and the song is originally Bob Dillan’s. I just hate his voice, so I gave you Garth’s version instead. I know, I know, you love Dillon, but I couldn’t do it. I love you, Alice. I love you very much. See you in a few days.”

lucia – as is par – superb!
I love the way you write. You just nailed all that horrible stuff about Alice wanting Dana to be successful but being jealous of the consequences of it. Great, as usual.
awww.. that was so good! great job lucia. such a great song! i never really listened to the lyrics until today. so nice. thank you.
I have this glowing feeling in me. Your writing is so good that I felt what Alice felt. And that is one of my fave songs and it fits perfectly in this chapter.
i have to say it is a great song, and he has two songs, that being one of them, that I have seen convert people over to country, even those hard core, i would never listen to country music people.
I still stand by my comment that this should be written for the show’s script. It’s perfect- their thougths, actions, how they know what the other needs. And I love Alice’s constant stream of thought. I always thought it would be interesting to write out what Alice was thinking during the show.
My favorite line in this chapter was, ” please know that what I say is real. What I feel is real. What I want is you, only you.” I think that Dana’s feelings often get overlooked because she’s “inexperienced” or viewed as the little sister and doesn’t know what it is to love. Great job- can’t wait till the update!!!
Dana´s letter was great, she knows her girl so well:) Alice has to get over her stupid thoughts…silly girl she is. tz well done
to me this is the way they have to work things on the show. Let them together work through their issues, but no… well we’re lucky to have your stories and the others danish writers, thanks.
definitely lword script material. this is the way we want it to be in the future. Danish solving insecurities and talking about them.. Dana is so cute :D Alice, believe Dana. Believe what she says :)
SO FUCKING ROMANTIC! i’m such a sucker for romance.. and i am really all for Dana and Alice. how i wish i could just watch them in person doing this, loving each other like this. the way you write is just amazing.. the show should get you to write for them. hope this happens in the show.. that song, i dedicated that to my gf.. so that left me breathless… anyway, i want SOME MORE! great work lucia!
