    Breaking Barriers-Loving a Woman & Her Daughter-Chapter 2

    CHAPTER 2.

Bette looked up at the clock, she had only been in the office for two and a half hours and already she wanted to pack up and go home. She had enjoyed her Summer break and returning to work was always difficult. Though she had done a little work from home, a few things had slipped behind, meaning there was a lot to catch up on. To add to that stress she had two major exhibits happening over Autumn and that was going to keep them busy. It was always a difficult time, as she wanted to make sure that she had time for Angie. Thankfully her faithful assistant James was excellent at his job and should he ever have to, he could run the place on his own with one hand tied behind his back!

Just as Bette had put down the phone to a potential buyer, James buzzed through to her.

“Sorry to bother you Bette but I thought I should let you know that whilst you were on that call, Angie’s teacher called and asked if you could give her a call back in the next hour?” James explained.

“Is everything ok, is Angie hurt or something?” Bette started to sound a little panicked.

“No, no, I don’t believe it is anything serious. The teacher, a Miss Kennard just asked if you could call her back before she returns to class.” James said.

“Ok thanks James, I will give her a call right now.” Bette said as she sighed and hung the phone up.

Already she could feel a headache coming on. The first day back from Summer break was always stressful and there was only two of them to cope with it all. As Bette went to her computer to look up the schools phone number, she knew that this phone call could only mean Angie was in trouble! It was the first day back, if she was not sick or hurt, there was no other explanation for the school contacting her.

She dialed the number and then sat back in her chair and closed her eyes. Within a few rings the phone was picked up.

“Hello, Tina Kennard speaking, how may I help you?”
