Chapter 15 – Sunday – A Day of Rest and Relaxation
Paris: Thanks Bette. I appreciate you saying that. So, you would be okay if Jeanette and I did not have children.
Bette: That is your decision or yours and Jeanette’s and I will love you whether you have children or not. I would be thrilled to be an aunt and so would Tina. But if that is not in the cards, well then, it is what it is. We will love you and support you and be your family no matter what.
Paris (hugging Bette): God, I love you, Bette. You are the best sister in the world.
Bette: God, don’t let Kit hear you say that. She’d be jealous.
Paris: She too is the best sister in the world. I love her too.
Bette: Let’s get some lunch before it’s all gone.
They went into the dining room where the plates had been filled with a shepard’s pie served with a side salad. They joined their family and talked about their plans for the afternoon. Paris and Jeanette were planning an afternoon swim with the kids while Bette and Tina unpacked and started their list for the upcoming week. Jeanette was planning to fix Thai dishes for dinner. That really excited Bette and Angie. They were big Thai fans. Paris and Angie would assist.
Bette told the group that she and Tina would probably take an afternoon nap from about 3 to 5 and would join the family in some games after dinner. Daniel suggested a game of Texas Hold’m remembering that Jeanette and Tina had played for the championship during the friends’ week. They all agreed that they would play. They reminded the group that they had to be up early so Angie could take her driving lessons and that there were several things that had to be accomplished for Monday. Everyone specifically refrained from saying anything about Angie’s birthday tomorrow. They really wanted to give her the impression that they had forgotten. Bette was going to get with Tina to plan how to get her out of the house for the afternoon. Bette decided that she would take Angie and Daniel out to purchase some clothes for their golf lessons. They would need some golf shorts and shirts and some golf shoes. That should keep them out several hours. Bette figured about three outfits each plus one pair of shoes for each of them. They would go to a local country club to be fitted for shoes. Maybe they would have clothes as well that would fit the two. They would also need a bag to carry the shoes in and a bag to carry clubs in. Dan had some appropriate clothes in his school clothes, but Bette did not want him to wear those except at school and school events.

Hi Martha.
I’m sorry I’m not one to comment after each chapter as I can’t wait to continue reading
I am absolutely loving this story. They way they’ve changed their lives around with new careers and a move back to the LA area. Each couple telling their story of that last 10 years was so, informative, exciting and funny. It was heart warming to read the lovely one on one time, Bette had with Dan and Tina with Angie. You made it sound busy, hectic and so loving.
It was so like Bette to plan a secret getaway for her and Tina, just what they both needed after the last few weeks of planning, their new lives
Please continue, I’m loving it !! ❤️
