Chapter 15 – Sunday – A Day of Rest and Relaxation

Bette:  Maybe some of Melvin’s partners are still alive and know Mother from the days they were married. I am sure they would recognize her even after 45 years.

Paris:  I think she talked to them by skype, so they definitely saw her and possibly recorded the conversation for their files and to show to partners who knew her.

Bette:  Well, that would be a good thing.

Paris: Do you have any idea how much this residual portion is going to be?

Bette:  Not a clue. Kit has no idea either.  We thought we got what we were going to get 18 years ago. This is all a surprise to all of us. I’m just glad that you are included and you are going to get your share. At least we are going to do everything we can to make that happen.

Paris:  Bette, you don’t know how grateful and humbled I am that you and Kit are doing this. You could have kept your mouths shut and I would never be the wiser.

Bette:  This is your money, not ours. It simply would never occur to us to try to shut you out. You are our sister and you deserve your share of what our father left to his children. But of course, Kit and I are hoping that there aren’t any more than just you. I do not think I could stand the stress of another legatee to just show up out of the blue. I wouldn’t be upset with them, but I would be upset with dear ole Dad spreading his seed around the world without regard to the consequences.

Paris:  Well, you know it’s a possibility. We will just have to deal with it if someone shows up.  But the will has put an expiration date on making a claim, so if someone shows up out of the blue, then we deal with it. Of course, they will have to prove that he was their father just as I am doing.

Bette:  Well, there is no doubt about you being our sister. I don’t need a DNA test to prove that and neither did Kit. She knew the moment she met you. You look too much like me to ever be able to deny it. And Kit recognized Mother immediately also. I am so please we found you. Otherwise, I would be just now finding out with this damn will. We would have lost eight years of knowing each other. I am so pleased to have you and Jeanette and Mother as a part of our family. I love all of you so much.

    1. Hi Martha.
I’m sorry I’m not one to comment after each chapter as I can’t wait to continue reading
I am absolutely loving this story. They way they’ve changed their lives around with new careers and a move back to the LA area. Each couple telling their story of that last 10 years was so, informative, exciting and funny. It was heart warming to read the lovely one on one time, Bette had with Dan and Tina with Angie. You made it sound busy, hectic and so loving.
It was so like Bette to plan a secret getaway for her and Tina, just what they both needed after the last few weeks of planning, their new lives

      Please continue, I’m loving it !! ❤️
