Chapter 15 – Sunday – A Day of Rest and Relaxation

Tina:  Bette!  They need to have the honeymoon they choose. Besides, it’s always nice to get out of the room to have a meal or two and to get some fresh air and enjoy the place they are in.

Bette:  Yes, there is a need to come up for air once in a while.

    They all laughed.

Paris:  I will let you know what kind of wardrobe you will need. Just make sure your passport and identification are current and up to date, because you can count on us leaving the country.

    Jeanette:  That sounds intriguing.

Tina:  Careful Paris, do not reveal too much.

Jeanette:  I’m going to go finish up lunch and serve it.  Where are the kids?

Bette:  They haven’t come down from taking our bags up. I wonder what’s going on.

Angie and Daniel came down the stairs just as they were talking about them and came to the table.  Angie volunteered to set the table and assist Jeanette.

Daniel came over to Tina and put his arm around her. He began to tell her how much he missed her while she was in New York and then about all the adventures he had with his Mama B. He was telling her all about his new school, his new wardrobe and his new musical instruments. He was talking in rapid machine gun fashion.

Tina:  Daniel, I’m not going anywhere. You can slow down and now talk to me.

Bette: Does he remind you of someone?

    Tina:  Yeah, Angie!

Dan grinned that big Porter smile. To be like his sister was a huge compliment to him.

Bette:  While you two are getting caught up, I’m going to talk to Paris in the living room.

Paris stood and followed Bette to the living room.

    Paris:  So, what’s up Sis?

Bette: I was wondering if you have talked to Joyce Wischnia about your claim to Melvin’s will.

Paris:  Yes, I got together with Joyce the day after we had dinner. She has been in touch with the law firm in Philadelphia to see what they would require as far as proof that I was a legitimate claimant to the will. Joyce called me on Thursday and said she had heard back from Melvin’s law firm and they would require a certified birth certificate from me showing I am the daughter of Mary Southerland and I would need to submit a DNA test results to show that I was the daughter of Melvin Porter. They would be getting other DNA test and have a reputable firm analyze the DNA test of other known descendants of Melvin Porter to mine. If they were a match, they would accept my claim. If not, they would reject the claim. So, I presume that they will be getting in touch with you and Kit pretty soon.

    1. Hi Martha.
I’m sorry I’m not one to comment after each chapter as I can’t wait to continue reading
I am absolutely loving this story. They way they’ve changed their lives around with new careers and a move back to the LA area. Each couple telling their story of that last 10 years was so, informative, exciting and funny. It was heart warming to read the lovely one on one time, Bette had with Dan and Tina with Angie. You made it sound busy, hectic and so loving.
It was so like Bette to plan a secret getaway for her and Tina, just what they both needed after the last few weeks of planning, their new lives

      Please continue, I’m loving it !! ❤️
