    As they set about preparing the breakfast table, they heard Bette descending the staircase, cooing to Angelica, humming a Paul Simon song, of all things.  They exchanged knowing smiles and glances. As the brunette arrived in the hallway separating the open-space kitchen and dining room, she was singing out, “A man walks down the street.

    As the brunette arrived in the hallway separating the open-space kitchen and dining room, she was singing out, “A man walks down the street.  He says why am I short of attention? Got a short little span of attention…”

    Tina was shaking her head as Bette danced into the kitchen with Angie in her arms, still singing, “And why are my nights so long.  Where’s my wife and family?”

    Diane and Jules joined in, “What if I die here. Who’ll be my role-model, Now that my role-model is Gone Gone…”  All three continued with the rest of the verse, dancing around as Tina shook her head.

    Then Diane and Jules let Bette sing the chorus to Tina, “If you’ll be my bodyguard I can be your long lost pal.”

    Finally Tina joined them and sang back to Bette with a smile, “I can call you Betty.  And Betty when you call me you can call me Al…”

    As Diane and Jules continued singing the song, dancing as they finished setting the table, Bette smiled back at Tina, then leaned closer and whispered, “I’m sorry, baby.  Please don’t be upset with me?”

    Tina teared-up, shook her head, and gave Bette a deep kiss.  “I love you so much, Bette.  But you make it hard, sometimes.”

    Bette pursed her lips in a half-frown, half-smile, “I know, baby.  I’m so sorry, T.”

    They touched foreheads, shut their eyes, and took a breath jointly.

    “C’mon, let’s eat,” Tina said after a while, kissing Bette gently, as she drew back.

    As they took their seats, and after Tina had strapped Angie to her high chair and given her the smaller portion of the mashed version of the eggs benedict Bette had prepared for their toddler, Jules said, “Y’ know Bette, I think I have a sick remix of that song in one of my playlists in the car.”

    “You do?”

    “Mmhmm … this breakfast is awesome, by the way.”

    Diane chimed in, after swallowing, “Yes, Bette.  Thanks for making it.  And…”

    She glanced sharply at Jules, and then smiled gently at Tina, “Thanks a lot for stepping in early this morning to close the bar.”

    4. I may be wrong, but it feels like you may be setting up the story for some drama with Dianne and Jules…. (at the bar with the guys and the party).
      And the way you ended here … yes it implies “sexy time” ……… BUT…….

      • Yes, you will see chapters soon. Just an insane travel schedule right now (or for much of the year so far, actually), from Acapulco to Beijing, Berlin to Colombo — crazy. There was a slight pause for Memorial Day, but otherwise…. Have not meant to keep readers hanging, and am going to post ASAP. I really like how the outline of this book is working out, so please let me know what you all think as the rest of the book unfolds. Thanks!

          I love to read a good book as long as it is entertaining. I see you are introducing two more new characters Diane and Jules into this new series I hope Bette and Tina aren’t fading into the background… Maybe Logan steps in uses Diane to uncover the mysterious guy who tried to hurt Bette and Tina? Finally my thought is persuading Tom to making a contribution by adding a fourth member to their family :)

    8. I love it when Bette and Tina go to these epic parties. PPS I want to see Tina’s surprise. I have a feeling it will greatly aid in Bette’s healing process.
