City of Love – Chater 2

Could it be love at first sight?
And I never knew that I, could fall in love on the very first night
    Could this be love?

    Mary J. Blidge

    Shane: You’re kidding me, right?

Mark: No, I’m not. Why should I?

Shane: Because it’s…I don’t know it doesn’t seem right.

Mark: Shane, first of all you know that we already did these kind of things several times. Why is it wrong all of a sudden? And… you told me that you’d do anything.

Shane: Yeah because I was so sure that the Lakers would never loose against the Knicks.

Mark: See, that teaches you not to be too confident when it comes to the Lakers, especially not when they are playing against the Knicks.

Shane: You know what? There will be other matches…and I already know that we will get revanche.

    Mark: Is that another bet?

Shane looked at him seriously but Mark didn’t stop grinning confidently.

Shane: I don’t know man, she seemed nice. She doesn’t deserve to be treated like that.

Mark: Come on, there’s nothing bad about it? Everybody loves having fun – even the waitress who doesn’t know the Soho.

Shane: Get over it, some people just don’t like hanging out at clubs.

Mark: Come on, Shane. You lost the bet. You know I would do it.

Shane: It’s because you think that I can’t do it right?

    Mark: Well…You’ve seen her, I bet she’s a challenge.

    Shane: We’ll see.

Shane grinned cockily while her friend laughed. Having arrived they got out of the cab paying the cab driver. They were greeted by Bette Porter, one of Shane’s close friends.

Bette: Hey, how are you guys doing?

Shane: I’m okay, just a little nervous, I guess.

Bette: There’s nothing to worry about, Shane. I told you that everything will be going just fine and Mark will be behind the camera, so you know you’re in good hands.

Shane: Alright. Let’s do it then.

The café Shane and Mark went to this morning was now closing for a midday break. Carmen closed the door and joined her best friend Alice who came by just before they closed.
