“Bette Porter.” Jackie shook hands and said “Jackie Phillips.”
Bette then stepped around Jackie to give Alice a big hug while Tina and Jackie introduced themselves. She noticed that Alice tensed up quite a bit and made the hug shorter than she would have liked. She did hold on to her upper arms and warmly said how good it was to see her. Alice saw that Bette meant it and gave back a small smile.
Tina was the next up to give Alice a hug. Again, Alice tensed up and glanced over at Jackie over Tina’s shoulder. Shane noticed the look and it didn’t help her sense of disquiet.
“Let’s sit.” Bette said and indicated a couple empty chairs nearby. Jackie pulled them to the table and made sure she was sitting between Alice and her friends. Jackie’s hand was on the back of Alice’s chair and she absentmindedly rubbed the back of Alice’s neck with her thumb.
Bette spoke first. “Alice. I can’t tell you how happy we are to see you. We actually were going to perform an intervention of our own to get you back with us. We had a self-assessment questionnaire planned and everything.” The friends gave a smile when they thought back when their lives seemed so simple.
Tina spoke next. “So how are you Alice? Your e-mails have been less than detailed on your life”. She said this last part with as a gentle scold.
Alice glanced quickly at Jackie before she began speaking.
“Well… I’m sure you all know that I am no longer with KCRW.” Her friends nodded. “I write occasionally for LA Magazine and have also sold several freelance stories to various magazines. I like being full-time freelance because it leaves my schedule open to spend time with Jackie.”
At this point, Jackie spoke up. “My girl is being modest. She actually has people contacting her to write articles. She can pick-and-choose what subjects she wants to tackle. Her career is really taking off.” Alice blushed lightly and gave Jackie a grin.
“And how did you two meet?” Bette asked. She was not shy and wasn’t one for small talk when she wanted information.

am I first? oh yay! I love this. This is so good. It’s sad that Alice may have changed but the group did a mistake by not being there with her when she needed them. I’m sure Dana wouldn’t be too happy with Jackie too but this makes a really good story, it’s new, I like it. Cold woman by Alice’s side and Dana acting Shane-ish. Keep up the good work. I can’t wait where this goes. PPS:D

wat happened to alice:( she seems pushovery :S..i dont like this jackie character one bit although its gunna be very interesting wen she and dana meet lol great writing!!!

“Piercing blue eyes that did not have a hint of warmth” did not sound good to me already. Jackie seemed to me a control freak but maybe A needed to be taken care of after the heartbreak. I agree with the comments above, this was not the A that we have grown to know and love. I hope somehow she would go back to her old self as being confident, outspoken and fun. I think down the road, B could give Jackie a piece of her mind. It would be an interesting scene. And the rest of the gang could join in for the intervention. Last but not least, let D see what A had become. Not to use the guilt trip tactic, but ultimately, I hope D would realize that it could only her to bring A back. Excellant MaGoose, I really enjoy this update.
Ok, who is this woman and what has she done with Alice? I don’t like Jackie. I don’t like that Alice is being controlled by her. I can’t wait for my sweet Dana to find out about this. She won’t like it one bit. Can’t wait to see how the little get together turns out. Please post soon. This a great story.
Oh yeah. Dana is gonna hate Jackie. I’d bribe you to have a catfight between those two. But I’ll settle for a breakup and a Danish get together.
I have to agree with Luvs on this one. Where is Alice???? I don’t like this Jackie woman. GRRRRRRR! Bring on more, you have me very interested in what’s going to happen next. SAVE ALICE! *painting signs now*

Magoose. I wanted to thank you for the support that you have given me. I’m taking things alot better now. I really love your story. I think Marital arts should have been part of Dana training schudule. I would watch two picks cat fight over Alice.Great story
