“I’m not sick!” stated Jo as Bette checked her forehead.  It was Saturday night; two days after Bette’s fainting spell at Haven Island.  Bette had continued to lie to Jo about what she’d seen, feigning that she had no real recollection of the vision.  Bette Porter, whose life had always been rooted in reality, in lists, in control, was now in a tailspin.  It had dawned in Bette, early yesterday morning that she was now in total control.  Somehow, somewhere, there would be the opportunity, for her to get her hands on the vampire strand that had initially turned Jo into a vampire.  The battling tug of war between wanting Jo to live, and potentially having Jo hate her for eternity because Jo’s venomous defense of her choice to become human again, a conversation that they’d had last night before going to bed.

“You feel warm…,” said Bette with a concerned look on her worried face.

Slapping away Bette’s hand, Jo rolled out of bed, “We just had sex; we are supposed to be warm, god….”

Bette fell back onto the bed, utterly exhausted, not understanding how Jo just bounded up out of bed, wasn’t she the one who was dying?  Jo walked to the end of the bed, still naked, hands on her hips, “You coming?”

“Where are we going?” asked Bette with a lopsided grin on her lips.

“Shower?” said Jo wiggling her eyebrows.  Bette laughed, “Where are you getting all your energy?  Shouldn’t you save some of it?”

“What do I have to save it for?  Dying?  That’s easy…,” said Jo, waving her hand as if it was nothing.  Bette’s eyes got serious, the joking and the off handed way Jo was treating this was great for her, but Bette was having trouble dealing with the fact that she was going to lose yet another person that she loved.  Jo saw the look in her eyes and looked down sheepishly.  Going over to Bette’s side of the bed, Jo knelt, “I’m sorry.”

“No, I’m sorry…  I know this is how you are dealing with it…  I just, god, I don’t want to lose you, I love you, I want you live,” stated Bette, rubbing Jo’s cheek gently, loving the silken feel of her skin.  But Jo’s skin had been different when she’d been a vampire, more luminous and as smooth as anything Bette had ever touched before.

    1. Amy just really can’t stand it that Bette makes Jo happy. Thanks for this entertaining diversion. I made a commitment to post on Sunday night or Monday morning…and I DON’T FEEL LIKE IT!!!!!! LOL Thanks!

    2. Amy needs to get a grip and think about Jo instead of her selfish self. She lost her, Bette has her, end of story or at least end of this chapter. I still don’t think Bette will let her die.

    3. When will Bette make up her mind,If she inject Jo,and Jo lives will she hate Bette for doing it??? Amy needs to get a grip on herself and think of Jo,not Jo and Bette. thanks bvh

    4. HELL YEAH I’m anti Bette & Tina. Was Quinn just ‘in the moment’ w/ Tina, & now she’s not feelin’ her? Ugh! Not Paige! Whats she doin’ here (in this fic)? O.k. it seems like you’re rearranging couples again. My poor Jo, I don’t like to see her weak & helpless although she’s putting up a good front -Give ‘er that needle Bette! Luv it.

    5. ooooooh, a new story…nice! Short or long, your posts are always such a good read. Although I usually like her with Bette, you write Tina and Quin so well that I am loving them together…what’s up with the lying!! I can’t imagine that you’re sending her back to Bette.

    6. This was a great posting. I laughed hard at Shane and her super spy self. I don;t want to get to sad for Jo because you have foreshadowed her dead and alive I don’t know what to think. Alice and Laura better take things slow. Ro and Shane? Jo and who? This is full of posssibilities.

    7. Hmmm…so Shane’s going to start snooping on the Kindred? It feels like something strange is about to happen to Alice, Lara, and Carmen. And why is Quin lying to Tina? The whole Tina/Bette/Jo/Amy thing is about to blow up it seems. Thanks for the update.

    8. Nooooo! Bette… don’t do it. I don’t even know how she’d get back into that room to get the vampire DNA in the first place, but still… Bette shouldn’t do it. Alice and Lara… I can see a reunion borne of commiseration, and well, I’m not against it. If Carmen’s going to try and get back with Shane, well… so be it. And why’s Quin lying to Tina alla sudden? Fate fighting to right itself in triplicate, perhaps? Anyway, great update, merci pour le chapitre, Janet.
