    Tibette beginning… She had waited, her heart beating furiously in anticipation, as she had listened to the never-ending ringing tone into the phone. No answer… She’d let out a long sigh and was just about to hang up when…

    They both heard the final announcement for Bette’s flight, and both simultaneously clinged to the phone, desperately, as if clinging to each other like they had in SFO airport.
     

    "You should go, Bette… You… You’re going to miss your flight", Tina said in the softest voice. Once again, she was the one to urge Bette out of her life, when all she wanted was to beg her not to leave… Beg her to stay so that they could have ‘more time’…
     

    Then she added softly,
     

    "Goodbye, Bette… And, please… Don’t forget about your promise." She pleaded.
     

    Bette nodded, biting her upper lip to hold back the tears that, more than ever, were threatening to spill.
     

    "Tina… I…" Bette started in a shaky voice. No, she couldn’t say goodbye… She just couldn’t.
     

    So instead, and despite all of her good resolves, she simply spoke her heart,
     

    "I’m really glad you answered the phone, Tina… I… I needed to hear your voice one last time before I left…" She said softly, almost like a whisper in the blonde’s ear, before she hung up and walked to the counter, putting on a brave face, but devastated inside.
     

    Tina stood there, motionless, after the line had gone dead…
     

    ‘I needed to hear your voice one last time before I left…’
     

    The words resounded in her head like a mantra and her heart was racing… How was it possible to feel so warm and so cold in the same time?
     

    She was crushed. She was depressed. She was miserable….
     

    But her heart was blazing… Like it had been ever since that fateful night.
     

    And that fire that consumed not only her heart but her whole being was just impossible to ignore any longer.
     

    … She was in love with Bette.
     

    She loved her with a passion that she had never felt in her life… A passion that she never thought even existed.
     

    And she knew she would never recover…

    The voice of the hostess announcing the final descent towards Santa Maria Airport brought Bette back to the present.
     

    She fastened her seatbelt and looked through the window. As she started to distinguish the first bits of land slowly appearing through the clouds, she tried to focus on her tremendous task ahead.
     

    But Tina’s face and the sound of her voice kept coming back to the forth of her mind, like it had been for the past few hours… For the past few weeks.
     

    And she knew for certain that, just like she couldn’t dismiss her from her head, she would never be able to dismiss from her heart the woman she had undeniably and passionately fallen in love with…

    15. Okay, they have fallen in love with each other and are not even in the same country, what is the next step? I hope that the survive this time away from each other. It also gives Tina some time to end her marriage to Helena.

Well, actually… Actually, I can certainly see why she would do that, she just wasn’t ready to face the consequences of such a revelation, but at the same time she desperately needed to say those words to Tina for somehow it must be a relief for her… But how could she leave Tina like that ? With those words ?… This is so heartwrenching, no to mention excruciating ! … Anyway, off to read your last update now !
