    Short Story – Chapter 3: “Tina, I think you are anything but ordinary…”

    Discovering Aphrodite

     

    Bette sat on the lounger by the pool.  It was deserted from the days family’s enjoying the hot sun and frolicking in the water to cool off.

     

    She leaned back and brought her legs out in front of her to lay along the chair.  It had been quite a day so far.

     

    Tina’s out of the blue question of ‘having dinner’ had surprised her, not in a bad way, how could it be bad to be invited out for dinner by a gorgeous blonde woman you had met only that morning.  It was the ease at which they had spent time with one another during the day.

     

    The unplanned meeting at the Tomb of the Kings, the wandering around with one another investigating and enjoying learning about the new culture they were seeing.  It was if they had known one another since school days, not just met that morning at breakfast.

     

    Bette had been taken in, the rod had been cast, she had hooked her finger and been completely reeled in by this quiet woman with an intense gaze and those moments of complete boldness.

     

    They had walked around the archaeological site like old friends, pointing and showing one another things they had seen, little glances and smiles as they both realised what they were doing.

     

    Tina had walked down the steep steps into the large tomb, her hand running along the restored stone columns as her mind wandered, “can you actually believe all this?”

     

    “It’s amazing isn’t it, to think that in 300BC people were walking around here burying their family in these huge cut outs in the rock?”

     

    “But its like they had the whole thing all planned out, the family grave so to speak with seven tombs in one…”

     

    “What I’d like to know is how they actually did it, how could those men cut through this rock, sculpt it, shape it, lay these illustrious mosaic floors…, they didn’t have Black & Decker or Bosch in 300 BC, how the fuck could they make things so intricate…”

     

    Tina had looked at her, a smile creeping along her face as Bette’s wonderment got to her, she really was completely bowled over by the history she was seeing and feeling.

    8. Well, Bette may not have ever had a holiday romance but I have a very strong feeling that it is about to happen with Ms. Tina Kennard. I love this story Jo and I hope when the vacation is over they will be going back to the same town, LA. lol

    18. Haha…I don’t think that Tina will have to twist Bette’s arm too hard for that holiday romance…the question is…will it stay just a holiday romance? Wonderful update Jo and we’re going to need the next one ASAP.
