    Bette,
You know what they say about laughter being the best medicine, as such we stayed in tonight and watched stupid comedy shows. It was good that Tina was able to laugh.
I cannot answer your question about using God to justify evil. As a Professor of Criminal Justice, I have encountered details of every form of evil that can exist. I have never found anyone who could present a justification, though God is one that is often used.
From what Tina told me, it sounds like she felt very alone during that period of time. It must have been difficult for you to balance your family life with the demands of your job at that time.
As for sending flowers, give her a little bit more time.

    Chris,
Your comment sums up quite a bit of the problem. I didnt balance my family and my job. I let my job take priority. Actually, I cant say that I let it take priority. I chose to give it priority. I suppose that it was easier to fight the demons at the office, where I was confident of my abilities, than to face my wifes pain in the face of which I felt so incompetent. At work, I know how to make things happen, how to fix errors. How do you fix your wifes heartbreak over the loss of a child?
I miss Tina terribly. Could you tell her that?

    Bette,
She misses you as well. She isnt really saying it, but Ive known Tina long enough to be able to read her a little bit. Somehow, no matter what the topic, she thinks of a way that it associates with you before she can stop herself from doing so. As such, I know that you are on her mind almost constantly.
As Ive told you before, I cannot judge. I have no idea how I would have handled your situation. I was at such a loss for words when I found out about Tinas miscarriage, I can only imagine how difficult it must have been for each of you to find the words for each other amidst your grief. Of course, it sounds to me as though part of the problem was that neither of you found the words for yourselves, much less each other.
It sounds as if our Southern Belle is arising, I hear her going into the kitchen for coffee.
    Take care of yourself.
    Chris

    1. The E-Mail is keeping Bette up on Tina. She knows she is well and still very angry at Bette and still hurting. She misses Bette as much as Betty misses her thanks.

    2. This is fantastic. When I was much younger I read a book which was made up entirely of letters from the main character to others. This reminds me of that book, I read a ton and that book has always been one of my favorites. Keep up the good work.

    3. Don’t really know if I would enjoy it now, some 25 years later (approximately). The book is “A Woman of Independent Means” by Elizabeth Forsythe Hailey.
