Emails Back and Forth Chapter 2

    Chris,
Should it concern me that Tina has already returned to being a Southern Belle after only 2 days in the south?
As Im sure you know communication was always a problem for me. I didnt know how to tell Tina my feelings. It was easier to bury them and pretend they didnt exist. I thought that I was supposed to be strong: to carry my own pain and hers. I somehow thought that I could carry her pain, though in retrospect, I am unsure as to how I thought I was doing that. I guess I felt that if I was strong and buried my feelings, she would not have to deal with my grief in addition to her own. I can see, now, that it must have appeared to her as if I did not feel the loss of our child. Believe me, I did. I wanted us to have a child just as much as I believe Tina wanted it.
Tina dragged me to a shrink. I hated it. For one thing, and I continue to believe this, I do not think a straight, male, therapist can begin to understand the issues of a ***** relationship. Nevertheless, he told us that we werent ready to have children together. If after seven years together we werent ready, doesnt that imply that we would never be ready? Was this an omen to which I should have listened.
I think about Tina also. Everything reminds me of her and how much I love her.
Please give her my regards if she will accept them.

    Bette,
I dont think you need to worry that Tina is becoming Scarlett OHara. I didnt mean to scare you, it is just that I have noticed her accent becoming more obvious. Perhaps it is her proximity to me, although I thought that I had lost most of my accent over the years.
I can understand your reluctance to see a straight, male therapist. *****, I wont even use a straight, male gynecologist. I wonder why Tina chose him.
When I left for the University this morning, Tina said that she was going to keep busy today. She didnt say with what and I didnt push. I guess I will find out later tonight. I plan to push a little bit to see if I can figure out where she stands in terms of communicating with you. She doesnt know how frequently we have emailed so, I havent been able to express all of the sentiments you have sent.
    Hang in there,
    Chris

    1. The E-Mail is keeping Bette up on Tina. She knows she is well and still very angry at Bette and still hurting. She misses Bette as much as Betty misses her thanks.

    2. This is fantastic. When I was much younger I read a book which was made up entirely of letters from the main character to others. This reminds me of that book, I read a ton and that book has always been one of my favorites. Keep up the good work.

    3. Don’t really know if I would enjoy it now, some 25 years later (approximately). The book is “A Woman of Independent Means” by Elizabeth Forsythe Hailey.
