Expedition of the Heart—Chapter 16
Well I hate to break up the party, but we need to get home, Bette said standing and helping Tina to her feet.
Yeahwe should leave you two lovebirds alone, Alice said as she took Danas glass from her hand and took them into the kitchen. Everyone gathered their things and Marina and Cecilia walked them to the door.
Thank you all for being here tonight. Im glad we could share this with you. As she spoke, Marina reached for Cecilias hand.
Yes thank you, Cecilia said.
We were just glad things didnt get messed up, Tina said hugging the two women. Everyone said their goodbyes and the door was closed gently behind them. Marina leaned back against it and looked at Cecilia.
Now that were alone Marina let her suggestive statement trail off as Cecilia approached her and then pinned her to the door with her body. They kissed passionately and Cecilia pulled away slowly. Without words, they walked to their bedroom and stayed there for nearly two days.
***********
Cecilia sat in her office looking at images of the proposed pottery for her new display. The phone on her desk began to ring and she absently reached for the receiver. Dr. Hammond, she said into the mouthpiece.
Cecilia? a male voice asked on the other end.
Greg! How are you? I havent heard from you in a while. Greg Masterson was the head of the Anthropology department at the university in which she usually taught. The two of them held a mutual respect for one another and Cecilia became curious as to why he would call out of the blue.
Fine fine listen would you have some time today to come over here?
Cecilia looked at her watch before answering. I can come by on my lunch hour. Why? Whats up? she questioned still flipping through the various slides on her computer.
Well weve had an issue come up and I really think it would be best if I explain it all to you when you get here. Cecilia stopped looking at the slides and turned her full attention on her conversation.
What issue?
Well, Cecilia could tell that he didnt want to discuss the topic by the tone of his voice. Weve had a complaint filed Im sure its nothing, but I would rather tell you everything in person.
