    Expedition of the Heart—Chapter 16

Alright Cecilia said apprehensively. I can be there in about an hour.

Perfect! Ill be in my office.

OK Ill see you soon. Cecilia hung up the phone and then stared out the window. A complaint about what? she mused out loud as an uneasy feeling started to come over her. Picking up the handset again, she dialed the number for her secretary. Jill, Ill be out of the office for a while and Im not sure if Ill even be back this afternoon. Could you make sure to forward any important calls to my cell?

Got it have fun! her perky receptionist replied. After hanging up, Cecilia retrieved her business jacket from its spot on the back of her door and left the museum. The drive to the campus was tortuous. Cecilia hated not knowing what this was about and tried to think of any reason a student would have to file a complaint so long after she had finished teaching. As she pulled into the parking lot for Gregs office, she remembered the scene in her kitchen two weeks before. ***** Jessica! she said as she slammed the SUV into park. Her student relationships were the only things Cecilia had that could possibly come back to haunt her and Jessica wasnt exactly in a good mood when she left her home that day. She walked down the sidewalk towards the building full of trepidation. Once inside, she stopped in front of Gregs door and took a deep breath before knocking.

Come in! she heard from the other side. Cecilia walked in with a smile on her face.

Greg! Wow youre looking good. Cecilia walked up to his desk and shook his hand as he held it out.

Thank you I believe you know President Nichols. Greg said nodding to the woman sitting in the only other chair in the room.

Yes I do. How are things in the Big House? Cecilia used the students term for the Presidents office as she extended a friendly hand to the elegant, older woman that remained seated.

Good we finally got that leak fixed, she answered smiling back and laughing. Cecilia laughed with her and pulled the available chair out in order to sit.

So what can I do for you? Cecilia asked still keeping a nonchalant look on her face while her insides knotted up. Greg looked at the President and she nodded for him to begin the conversation.
