Feeling safe and wanted again – Chapter 39
“I love you Bette, I’ll be right outside. Stay strong, I love you.” Tina says out loud before she leaves the room.
Inside the room, Bette is having a hard time breathing, while at the same time her pulse is going through the roof.
“Get the defibrillator.” The doctor shouts out to the nurse. The nurse rushes out.
Tina had just gotten back to the waiting room, when she hears the message over the speakers.
“CODE BLUE, CODE BLUE ROOM 421”
Tina turns and starts running back towards Bette’s room, but she’s stopped before she gets there.
“Nooo, my partner is in there, please. I need to see her.” Tina cries. Maryann had heard the message over the intercom and she saw Tina running down the hallway just as she got out of the elevator. She followed Tina and caught up to her as she was stopped by a male nurse. Maryann takes a hold of a struggling Tina.
“I know her, go. I’ll take care of her.” Maryann says to the nurse.
“Tina, honey, come on.” Maryann says as she brings her over to a chair a few feet to the left.
“She needs me, I need to be with her, please, let me be with her.” Tina sobs as she looks down towards Bette’s room, where she sees nurses and doctors running in and out.
“What happened Tina?” Maryann asks once Tina calms down a little.
“I don’t know, she just told me to get the doctor and that something wasn’t right.” Tina says.
Back in the room, the doctors are working on stabilizing Bette’s heart.
“Her heart won’t settle, we need to go in there. Call up and book an OR right away.” The doctor tells the nurse. The nurse rushes out. They prepare for the trip upstairs. One minute later the nurse comes back in and tells them that everything is ready. A team is assembling as they speak.
“Good, come on let’s go. You go and tell the girlfriend that we need to open her up to stabilize her heart. We won’t know for sure what we’re dealing with until we get in there. But it also seems that one of her lungs has collapsed.” The doctor tells the nurse on their way out of the room.
Tina sees them exiting the room and she abruptly stands up and starts running. Thankfully Maryann was quick and held her back.
“No, no Maryann let me go, I need to go with her, please let me go. Bette?” Tina calls out.
“She doesn’t need a panicked girlfriend beside her. Let the doctors do their job Tina.” Maryann says with force. She sees the nurse walking towards them.
“Hi.” The nurse starts.
“What’s happening?” Maryann asks calmly.
“Her heart is in distress, the doctors doesn’t know what’s causing it, so they’re bringing her up to the OR, they need to open her up and see what their dealing with. And her left lung has also collapsed. They’re doing everything they can, okay.” The nurse says.
“Thank you, will you keep us updated?” Maryann asks.
“Off course. I’ll head up there now and see.” The nurse says and disappears down the hallway and up the elevator.

BadgeBunny is right. Tina should learn to rein it in. Please, let Bette be alright.
Please let her be OK! PPS
I love her, but that was bad, bad, bad of Tina to go at Bette about her job, when the woman is lying in hospital, after coming out of a coma.
Just when everything started to look up for Bette and Tina this set back hampers Bette’s recovery.
Hi Lauren, I know it was just an oversight that you didn’t post the update on this cliff hanger today right? thanks ppps!!!!
Chewing Bette out for what she does for a living was not a good thing while she is recovering.
Lauren, please let her be o.k.Thank you for the update.
Just read your updates. Please don’t let anything happen to Bette! Post soon Please!
