What she didn’t realize is that Shane was already thinking of a way to talk to Ms. Morales herself. It was one thing to shut Shane out for the hurt she had caused, but she wouldn’t sit back and watch her make Carmen pay for what she had done. Shane wanted the closeness of the Morales family back, but right now what was most important was for her to make things right between Carmen and her family. And she would give it her best shot on tomorrow. What Carmen didn’t know was Shane had already asked one of the other members of the WAX staff to schedule her last appointment for 1:00 pm the next afternoon. Afterwards, he was going to take her to the Morales home, wait for her to speak with Carmen’s mother, and drop her off at home.

"Look, I know that you want us to talk Shane, but my mother has made it very clear she doesn’t want anything to do with me. I’m sure she’s gonna come around one of these days, but right now, I want to concentrate on you and me." Carmen said, trying to sound braver than what she actually felt.

"But Carmen, I …" Shane started. "No buts Shane! That’s the way it is and you can’t change that" Carmen lashed out again. Sighing, she continued "Please babe, let’s just change the subject, ok?"

Shane reluctantly agreed and hoped she wouldn’t regret going to see Ms. Morales tomorrow.

As they made their way back to the apartment, Carmen felt a pang of guilt for the way she had spoken to Shane when she asked about her mother. An idea popped into her head, one that she was sure would take Shane’s mind off of the hurtful words. She’d put her plan into action tomorrow morning by making Shane breakfast in preparation for her return to work.

Shane was amazed that she had enough willpower to not try and make love to Carmen. Even as she watched the woman now, taking her clothes off and putting on her sleep wear, it took all of her self control to not jump her right then and there. This was another first for Shane. Actually sleeping in the same bed with a woman, and not trying anything. But for her, she had never met another woman worthy of the effort. And since they were taking their time, she saw no need to rush something as important as sex when she knew that when it actually happened, she would be sure to make it the most special moment that the two of them had experienced in a long time.
