Both Alice and Kit were stunned by this announcement. Bette pregnant?
“So Marcus sperm is still good” Alice asked “how long does that stuff last?”
“His sperm is still good” Bette chuckled linking her hand with Tina’s across the table. “We have a different donor in mind this time though.” They had decided to claim they had located a lost male cousin of Tina’s who was willing to be the donor to explain any physical similarities the child might have with Tina.
“Wow, you guys are serious. Marriage and a new baby.”
Shane wandered in an over to the table. “Who’s getting married because they knocked someone up?” She asked.
“Bette and Tina” Kit and Alice replied.
“Funny, so who are you really talking about?”
“Bette and Tina” the answer came again.
“Tina is planning on knocking Bette up and wants to marry her before hand so they are getting married in a little less than two months. I am beginning to wonder if she hasn’t knocked her up already.” Alice narrowed her eyes suspiciously.
“Angie is still here.” Bette admonished them. Angelica beamed at her mother. “New baby sister” she nodded and smiled.
“Bette, Tina it’s not my place but are you sure you want to create a big color difference between your children? Perhaps it would be better to use Marcus’ sperm and your children will have the same father.”
“Yeah” Alice agreed. Now that she had been with Tasha for awhile she saw more clearly the subtle ways in which color mattered in this world. She hated it but she saw it.
“We are not going to let the world dictate who fathers our child.” Bette returned evenly, Tina could tell by the way she held her hand just a little tighter that Bette was getting pissed.
“Do what you want. You always do.” Kit said hotly.
“Whoa” Tina cut in. She did not like the tone of disapproval in Kit’s voice. This was supposed to be a celebration. “May I speak with you alone for a minute Kit?” Tina asked Kit the question but her eyes held Bette’s. Bette nodded her consent.
“Listen Tina” Kit began as she paced her office. “Just because you have a biracial child does not make you an authority on the subject.”
“No it doesn’t but I have also loved one for over a decade so I know some things.” Tina’s eyes flashed with anger. “I swear Kit sometimes you are worse than Melvin when it comes to cutting Bette.”
The truth of Tina’s statement hit her like a brick.
“How does it hurt you that Bette would have a child with my genes? If you had kept Angus child would color matter so much to you then?”
Kit looked away embarrassed on both counts. She did sound like Melvin and with Bette being the birth mother the child would share her genes as well. Angelica was as much her niece as this new baby and it was not about genes or color it was about love.
“You’re right.” Kit admitted. “I please accept my apology. I need to apologize to Bette.” She looked stricken by her behavior.
“Before you go there is one more thing you need to know though you can not tell anyone else.”
Kit folded her arms across her chest. She may have put her foot in her mouth but she did know how to keep her mouth shut when it mattered. She glared at Tina for good measure.
“We are hoping that I will father Bette’s child.”
“Yeah you’ll be ‘the daddy’ this time” Kit got that no problem.
“No Kit. My sperm, our child.”
Tina had to explain it three times before Kit finally got it. When she did tears of joy flowed down her face. “I am so happy for the two of you.” Kit folded her in her arms.

oh my god, i love you for so many reasons on this post….#1 “We all got together and purchased a one way ticket for you to study the mating habits of lesbians in Siberia.” Tina replied smoothly.” LOVED this line!!! #2 You had Tina have Kit recognize that indeed she is sometimes worse than Melvin – I was beginning to wonder if i was the only one that noticed that?….and two posts in one day…yeah!!! You may feel like you’re struggling with the rewrite, Kelika, but it absolutely does not read that way. Iloved it the first time and love it just as much now. Fantastic update!
I would love for that to take place and then down the road have Bette father Tina’s baby. Then Angie would be the big girl on the block.

I am glad that Tina stood up to Kit for Bette, I really think it is true that sometimes what Kit says and does hurts Bette than Melvin ever did. I am so excited to see how this story continues.

Hey Kelika, Am loving the loving in this new adventure. Bette and Tina are just so right together. Doc Wilson was great in giving them all the options. Then meeting the gang and revealing some of their good news ans plans. Great to see Tina taking Kit aside and explaining how things are. Kit admitted her mistake and showed her joy at the prospects of Bette and Tina’s child. Delicious drama. More please. May thanks for these great two chapters. Your Loyal Fan.

I’m sure you know that this isn’t so way out. British scientists think that they have found a way to produce viable sperm from either women or men’s bone marrow cells. So its not so farfetched. Kelika: you know I love this story–but thought I’d just tell you again! Have a great weekend.Lin
