Chapter 51 – Everything I Had Hoped For
At Bettes question a look of apprehension appeared on Tinas face. Tina turned away from Bette and put both the wine glasses down on the table. Looking down at the glasses Tina was formulating her response. When she had worked out what she wanted to say she turns back around. Approaching Bette, Tina looks intently into Bettes eyes.
You know that the two of us have had many experiences since we have separated. These experiences, both the good and the bad, can be used to reward and enrich the life we want to build or they can drive wedges between us. I think this is a chance we have to take early on. The past is the past and we cant change it. Bette you can either be here with me now or not but either way it wont change the past. Bette choose where you want to be here with me or not.
Tina says all of this with a quiet conviction, as softness which belied the ultimatum it turns out to be. Bette was very aware that Tina was giving her the choice. The choices to live in the present and enjoy what is offered today or wallow in the past. This was the brass ring that Shane had talked about and Bette realized she needed to grab it but it wasnt that black and white was it? Looking at Tina, Bette thought about nothing else as the words I want to be here right now seemed to be floating through her head. As the words build up in volume in her mind Bette finally says Here with you in a whisper.
Tina had to lean in to hear Bettes whisper. Hearing the words she looked into Bettes eyes to get a glimpse of her soul to see the answer for herself. Smiling a small smile of relief she takes a stride towards Bette and places the palm of her hand on Bettes cheek. I have never been here before, it has been a dream of mine to be here with you. Tina says this quietly and watches the looks that cross Bettes face. She can see clearly the happiness which turns to anger and finally just confusion. We need to get over the hurdle of our past apart. There are things which I have done with others that I may want to do with you and well I dont want to be limited. Tina stops there not wanting to go any further. While Tina was saying this, the vision of Helena in the birthing suite crossed her mind. If they got that far she would love nothing more than to share that experience with Bette. She had pulled Bette along far enough for one day it was time to enjoy their time left.

JWET, GREAT chapter. The dinner sounds fantastic, I could smell the different dishes from here. And that ‘sinful’ dessert….my, my it’s just the appetizer right??? The REAL dessert will be later this evening…right??….pweety please! (A girl can wish can’t she!)

Great start, so they are back on track,and finally admitted their feelings for one another. But have an inkling Bette’s meddling in Tina’s career is gonna come to fruition, and i don’t think Ms Kennard will take it too lightly? Hope I’m wrong? Let me be wrong Jwet. lol. Brill chapter as always!!

And what a delightful, adorable and satisfying event it has turned into. No doubt due to your delectable and charming style. The love and generosity that Bette and Tina share just positively jumps off the screen. I am so ecstatic that Tina stood her ground and told Bette things straight. Tina has developed a back bone (in part due to Bette’s nurturing) but not at the cost of her compassion and kindheartedness. Bette’s apprehension and angst was quickly and quietly deal with. This allowed the characters (and story ) to move forward.
Thank you for a wonderful chapter yet again. I am plowing through my thesaurus trying to come up with new plaudits and platitudes to bestow on you.
Today’s food for thought:
Where did Alpha Bette go? When will she raise her ugly and angry head? Has Tina added a pellet with the poison in the vessel with the pestle; while the chalice from the palace has the brew that is true? What is Irene’s sexual preference? Will Shane ever tell a secret?
You’ll have to wait for the next chapter to see if any of these are answered.

Hmm, I love this story but there are so many things in the background lurking. Bette observing the birth of Anna “from afar” and orchestrating Tina’s career “from afar.” You hinted at both in this chapter and I can’t wait for the truth to be revealed; but based on how Tina handled Bette’s question in this chapter and the zeal she showcased when talking about her new job, I’m confident that Tina will be able to handle Bette’s meddling “from afar.”

WOW I could only guess at how much the bill is going to be. LOL great chapter, I don’t know about Irene you have never really have her talk much, so I though it was weird she started asking questions right away. But she would be a good person to hear the veiws she has seen. If you haven’t seen alicia keys in concert, you should!!! She is amazing. I talked to her back stage, about travel, wine, food, her music, her poems. She is so nice, converstaion just flows with her, and she is so smart. She is 1 yr older then me and wow it’s like she had live for 50yrs already.
This was so romantic, I loved it! And the food was fab ;)
